Good morning, everyone!
So, just like that, Christmas 2024 has come and gone. The anticipation and excitement of the past weeks and months led us to… yesterday and just like that, it is gone, vanished. In an instant. It is sad. Almost depressing. Bittersweet, maybe but that’s the reality. Christmas is gone…till next year.
However, Something else is back. Our Enyimba is back. The boys take to the pitch this evening to play Plateau United in a rescheduled Match Day 18 Encounter. And I’ll like to write this preview without mentioning those people who need not to be mentioned as far as the club is concerned. You know them. Today isn’t about them.
All the off-the-pitch dramas aside, the gaffer knows his team still needs to start raking in the points. We do have a few games in hand no doubt but imagine what a result from Jos would mean for the team. Boost, Renewed Confidence and less pressure on the playing and coaching staff. Those points are important.
Although we have a full contigent of players to pick from following our return from Maputo, it remains to be seen who gets the nod from the gaffer to start. Goalkeeper Ozoemena Ani and fullback Imo Obot were with the CHAN Eagles at the weekend. Were they released/in time to join the team? It would be very welcome and strong reinforcements if they were.
The other question mark is with Brown Ideye who we signed a few weeks ago. He had been waiting in Aba to team up with the players following our abysmal Continental showing. Question is, Did he make the trip to join the team in Abuja and then to Jos? Again, that forward line would be incredible if such firepower is added up top for this game.
I doubt the game is on TV – Forgive my limited research, but I haven’t seen any posts anywhere suggesting that the game will be on TV. Perhaps it will be and we will update on our X handle @ThatEnyimba_Fan.
Plateau United are hardly world beaters today. Currently sitting in 20th position on the table – no thanks to poor form and a 3 point deduction, we are playing another Sunshine Stars, this time away from home. On paper, they are very beatable, but there’s more – football is hardly played on paper. Some factors including our form on the day and action/inaction of match officials can decide an away game in the League.
In all, we can head out there and give a good account of ourselves. We currently boast of the best defence in the League currently and you think if we take our inevitable chances, we are in prime position to come back with some joy from Jos.
Hoping to share such joy here on the blog tomorrow,

We can actually get a good result in Jos
But this would happen if and only if the players know which badge there are playing for
This is Enyimba our players need to man up fast and really fast
