Good morning Guys,
There are days when writing this blog is tough because, honestly, nothing’s happening at the club. And then there are days when it’s tough because, well, too much is happening and you’re stuck wondering where to even start. Today is definitely one of those “too much is happening” days. But rest assured, we will tackle it.
The team is destination Bauchi – the first team to try out Lobi’s new home in Bauchi. What impeccable timing. Fresh off Thursday’s Oriental Derby disappointment. Much has been said about the result that it won’t bore me to tears to go back to it. But our travel tangent looks something like – Egypt, Abuja, Kano, Illorin, Aba, now Bauchi.
The team did get into some minor road accident that saw the vehicle bumper dented. Perhaps that’s the blessing in disguise and Enyimba can earn a new bus. To be honest, we are long overdue one. We are long overdue an improved travel system for the team. Managing a team means ensuring all the right parameters are in place to ensure we are fresh and in the best shape to prosecute our games.
Away from that, news filtered in few days ago that the club had added Junior Lokosa to their ranks. He was a player who a few years ago, lit up the League and it’s a bit of a surprise he is still within reach. Apparently his “abroad” football career has yet take off. In the meantime, he like Brown Ideye should help us navigate the rest of the season.
While i dont think I am concerned for his motivation, I do worry about his fitness. But fitness is not a lack of ability. It is temporary. It can be sharpened and if a football team cannot help with that then whatever use are they for? So in truth, nothing to worry about. Ok maybe how soon he can start contributing in the Goals Scored Column.
Another name being mentioned is Tamara Ezekiel. Apparently he’s a name that is widely known in the League- I guess my absence in the last few years mean some of these folks are not names I am too familiar with. A couple of others – 3 more according to my sources. Pretty hopeful that they have been registered and duly cleared for action.
Remo Stars went 9 points clear the top of the League with an away home win to a Sunshine Stars side that we couldn’t beat at home earlier. I know the League is still lots of games to go but the reality that we aren’t in the title conversations yet again this season is just pitiful. How things have changed.
Truth is, no one owes you anything. If you are going to challenge for the title, you will have to keep your name aside and earn every point. There are factors you cannot control in the course of a League season. But there are some well within your grasp – you can recruit well, manage a team right and ensure that all tools needed are well within reach of those who need it.
Back tomorrow
