Good morning Everyone!

I went back to yesterday’s blog and realized I had missed a very important point i was making. I had spoken of the challenge of running a daily blog of a football club in an inconsistent league. The Nigerian League is just a sham, as you well know. Well, especially what it is right now. The good old LMC days are a distant memory – what we have left is just a mess of the product.

The new challenge for me is the burden of supporting a football club run by illiterates. I picked that very name tag from a respected senior colleague who said – “Enyimba doesn’t even give me sleepless nights anymore”. Unfortunately for me, Enyimba does give me sleepless nights. So this has become a personal pledge – as long as i wake everyday, i will keep this blog on and running.

I come bearing news and please wait for it. Enyimba team and officials are currently still in Maputo. Yes you read that well. The fact that we had players arriving Maputo one hour before kickoff wasn’t disgraceful enough. The team is left stuck in Mozambique 2 days after Sunday’s defeat. This is the third day. Reason? Tickets. The club is sourcing tickets to fly them home.

Perhaps the idea was to banish the team and officials to Mozambique and have them stay there permanently, who knows? Unfortunately, they are the goose that lay the golden egg, without the team, Governor Otti won’t pay the N70million he pays as salaries monthly. So they need them back.

A few months ago, we outlined the fines and penalties Enyimba has had to pay since Chief Anyansi Agwu left. We’ve accumulated more in two seasons than Anyansi did throughout his 24 year old tenure. Some of these fines are down to outright failing at basic responsibilities like paying ex-player fees and bonuses but you know, square pegs in round holes, so who’s suprised?

I find the audacity of the club’s current management quite staggering. Their breathtaking ignorance on key issues is compounded by a blatant disregard for basic literacy, displayed with no hint of shame. It is bewildering.

Referees are now disallowing legit goals we score at home. And the club isnt doing anything about this. The question is – If Ekwueme is failing at these visible tasks he is saddled with, what about things like player welfare for which the failings aren’t obviously glaring?

This leadership team is consumed by an arrogance that’s completely detached from reality – a toxic combination disastrous for our beloved football club. How can we trust individuals who are so clearly unqualified, uninformed, and unaccountable to lead Enyimba forward?

The fact remains – we cannot ignore this and say nothing, not if we love this football club. The club wasn’t forged to accept ineptitude or mediocre leadership and it is our duty to insist on this.

Ah lest I forget, the proposed game against Nasarawa United billed for Thursday has been postponed. I mean, the team is probably returning to the country by weekend. What a shame.

Back tomorrow.

Well, the PR issue stated made me laugh. Just as if thats not enough, the SD stated that the players salary will be slaced to half and the players are lamenting heavily that if this happens, they themselves will lead the team to relegation
