Good morning everyone!
Yesterday’s blog ignited quite the reaction from various quarters, including some big wigs in the country and, predictably, the Enyimba Management. The club swiftly issued a press statement, which we’ll scrutinize today, followed by a supplementary piece penned by one of their loyal scribes – we’ll tackle that as well.
I lack sufficient word count to address the entire press release, so I’ll focus on a few sections of it.
“Our journey home encountered unforeseen challenges due to the heightened demand for air travel during the festive season, a situation that created significant difficulties in securing a unified travel arrangement for the entire team“.
Does this sound familiar? It should. This is the same reckless approach they took when sending Enyimba players on a grueling 3-day road trip to play El-Kanemi Warriors in Maiduguri. Utterly senseless. Someone prioritized cost-cutting over player welfare, opting for a cheaper, more exhausting road trip.
These CAF Confederations Cup fixture schedules were public knowledge two months prior, yet the club took no preparatory action. It’s likely someone received a casual text message two weeks ago, inquiring about travel arrangements, sparking a hasty and disorganized preparation. Players arriving in batches and now stuck in Mozambique.
It is important to emphasize that this situation is not reflective of any lapses in planning or management on the part of Enyimba FC. Instead, it is a direct consequence of the logistical constraints presented by the overwhelming rush for air tickets, particularly on the Ethiopia Airlines route used for the trip.
There you have it – The now very familiar deflection of responsibility – “Don’t you dare blame us. We’re flawless, beyond reproach. The situation is unavoidable, with no alternative solutions. We’re doing our best, and this is the best outcome possible. No one can do better”. A classic case of passing the buck and absolving themselves of accountability. Just like how the floodlights went off abruptly In the middle of a game because someone failed to buy gas.
Rest assured, the welfare and unity of our team remain our utmost priority.
This same management has not paid the players any match bonuses this season. The match bonuses paid in November was part of last season’s match bonuses. And guess what, there’s still 7 match bonuses left from last season. When that is cleared, then they can start paying match bonuses for this season.
There’s also player’s salaries for an entire month from last season that has not been paid. How about the estacode due the players courtesy of their Continental exertions. That’s the management that claims it is putting player welfare as its priority.
You don’t need a prophet to tell you – this story, will not end well.
Back tomorrow,
‘EnyimbaEnyi
I am speechless. Kanu is still owing players what is due to them from last season? No wonder some prospective signings prefered to sign for Rangers and Rivers United and ignored us.
GaDamn!
This club is now in a mess
