Greetings People.
I start this one with a warm greeting because, frankly, it feels deserved. Today is the first day of October, and we step into a new month with our heads held high. From the struggles of August, where we managed just one goal, to the steady rise of September that brought six, the signs of growth are there for all to see. We doubled our points tally too, and though that came from playing twice as many games, maintaining our average points per game in this unpredictable league is no small achievement.
October begins with a deep sense of satisfaction, not because the job is done, but because the journey is gathering momentum. Six matches in, we are still unbeaten. We walked into Lagos last weekend under intense scrutiny, with many expecting the run to end, but we left with our pride and our record intact. Only two teams in the NPFL are yet to taste defeat: Rivers United and, of course, our beloved Enyimba. And here is the real story, we have played more games, faced more obstacles, and still refused to fall.
Yet perspective matters. Six games is a solid start but still a small slice of a long season. Three wins and three draws is a record to build on, not to rest on. Right now, we are averaging two points per game, a pace that projects to 76 points by the end of the campaign. Some seasons, that is enough to lift the trophy. In others, it falls just short. The message is clear: celebrate the progress, yes, but do not get comfortable. The road ahead is full of twists, bumps, and rivals waiting to trip us up.
It is also worth remembering the nature of our early battles. We have faced promoted and youthful sides like Barau FC and Ikorodu City on the road, as well as Bayelsa United. At home, we have tested ourselves against early pace setters Nasarawa United, a stubborn Niger Tornadoes side, and the always resilient Bendel Insurance. The Nasarawa draw may have stung at the time, but in hindsight, it pushed us to collect seven points from the next nine available. That is the kind of response we must continue to summon in the months ahead.
So yes, this unbeaten streak is worth cherishing. It speaks of character, of progress, and of a team finding its identity. But let us also be honest: a bright September is no guarantee of a glorious May. Football, like life, is full of sudden turns and unexpected tests. What we celebrate today must fuel the hunger for tomorrow.
Now, as October opens before us, the challenge is to build on what we have started. Do not just keep the wheel spinning, shift gears. Chase bigger victories, aim for sharper performances, and turn resilience into dominance. The signs are there, the belief is growing, and the dream remains within reach.
Back tomorrow.
