It is no longer news that Enyimba came from behind to defeat Remo Stars 2-1 in Aba.

Scary? Of course it was.

I spent most of that game on the edge of my seat, worried that we might drop another crucial point at home against a stubborn opponent. At this stage of the season, every mistake feels heavier. Every attack against us feels dangerous. Every missed chance feels like it may return to punish us.

Thankfully, this time, Enyimba held firm.

After the match, Coach Emmanuel Deutsch credited the victory to resilience and belief, praising his players for the way they responded after conceding first.

“It was a game everyone was looking forward to the result and I’m happy, not just me but every Abian. It’s a good gift for them,” Deutsch said.

He also acknowledged the quality of Remo Stars, but reserved special praise for his players’ fighting spirit and renewed confidence, which he believes has been growing since the Abia State Federation Cup triumph.

“It’s football and I give it to the players for their good character and confidence, especially after going one goal down. Since after the FA Cup win against Ahudiyannem FC, you can see the confidence is coming back,” he added.

And to be fair, that confidence showed.

This was not a perfect performance, but it was a spirited one. It was the kind of response supporters have been asking for: not excuses, not panic, not collapse, but character.

Even former Enyimba coach Usman Abdallah recognized that fight after the game, praising the team’s ability to recover from the setback.

“Enyimba showed strong mentality to recover from the early setback. It demonstrated character, resilience, and mental toughness. However, this setback will not deter Remo Stars, and I am optimistic that we won’t be going down to the lower league,” Abdallah said.

That is the part that matters most for us now: mentality.

The victory moved Enyimba to 46 points from 36 matches, placing us 12th on the NPFL table as the fight to avoid the drop continues. It is a better position than we were in before the match, but it is not yet safety. There is still work to do. There are still nerves to manage. There are still points to fight for.

Next up is Kwara United in Lagos, at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena. A neutral venue, yes, but not an easy assignment. At this stage, no fixture is simple. Every opponent has something to protect, chase, or prove.

So the demand remains the same.

More courage. More concentration. More fight.

The Remo win was important, but it must not become the final emotional high of the season. It has to become fuel for the next battle.

Hopefully, the People’s Elephant can carry that same spirit into Lagos and bring back a result that moves us even closer to safety.

Till tomorrow,

Enyimba Enyi.
