Limp Enyimba held at home to Nasarawa United

Enyimba were left frustrated at home after being held to a 0–0 draw by a stubborn Nasarawa United in their NPFL Matchday 3 encounter at the Elephant Park.

The People’s Elephant started on the front foot, with Edidiong having a goal ruled out for offside in the 17th minute. Bright and Bassey John also went close, but the Solid Miners proved resilient, even carving out a dangerous chance of their own in the 27th minute, only for Kelvin Ogunga to pull off a stunning save to keep the score level.

The second half was almost entirely one-way traffic as Stanley Eguma’s men poured forward in search of a breakthrough. Substitutions saw Alao, Madufuro, and debutant Nzube all thrown into the fray, but despite waves of pressure and a heart-stopping moment when Nasarawa nearly put through their own net in stoppage time, the visitors held firm for a hard-earned point.

Man of the Match: Kelvin Ogunga (Enyimba goalkeeper), whose crucial saves ensured the People’s Elephant did not suffer an upset.

For Enyimba, the major concern is sharpening their finishing touch. Dominance in possession and territory means little without goals, and that remains the task as the campaign unfolds. Nasarawa, meanwhile, can take plenty of confidence from their defensive discipline and resilience on the road.

Off the pitch, frustrations ran high among fans before kickoff as the Abia State government rolled out a new online ticketing system without proper orientation. Many supporters struggled to gain entry, and in true Aba fashion, the gates were eventually forced open to allow the massive turnout inside. Unfortunately, once the game began, disappointment returned as questionable reshuffling by the coaching staff left fans unhappy with some player selections.

The Enyimba faithful made their voices heard, and the message was clear: the People’s Elephant must find their rhythm quickly if this season’s ambitions are to be achieved.
