Fan Friday: Bleeding Blue

Good morning, True Blues!

This weekend marks our grand return to Elephant Park—yes, I’m sticking with that name for the Enyimba International Stadium because, let’s face it, it just feels right. Our boys will finally get the chance to play in front of the Aba faithful, and trust me, a lot is riding on it.

For many of us, this will be the first chance to see the refreshed squad live—familiar faces alongside the new recruits who have joined the fold. Add to that the fact that Aba is buzzing with football right now. With Kun Khalifat choosing our ground due to renovations in Owerri, and Abia Warriors spotted training here during the week, that’s three teams making use of our turf. But let’s be honest: only one side bleeds blue. And just like our colour, we must be the most vibrant, the most intimidating, and the most entertaining this season.

As the first home game, nothing will lift the boys more than a full house roaring them on this Sunday afternoon. I’m sure the club has plans to make it carnival-like, but the truth is simple—every Enyimba home game should be a carnival. The players give the performance, and we, the fans, supply the atmosphere.

I couldn’t help but notice the crowds in Kano last weekend cheering Barau FC. Impressive turnout. If Kano can do that, Aba surely can do even better. Yes, last season’s patchy home form dented the numbers, but that was yesterday. This is a new dawn. A new chance to dream again, to roar again, to remind the league what it feels like to walk into Aba.

So here’s the call: come in blue. Old jersey, new jersey, even last season’s jersey—it doesn’t matter. Just come painted in our colour and ready to shake the stands. Aba has always been intimidating when it’s loud and full, and it’s time to restore that fortress feeling.

And to sweeten things, good news is here—our Joma kit deal is officially sealed, and jersey sales kick off on Monday. So yes, very soon you can grab yours and be part of the blue wave. Plus, here’s a little incentive: show up this Sunday in blue and you might just get featured right here on Fan Friday.

It’s a new season. It’s a new vibe. Let’s make Elephant Park roar again.

See you on Sunday.
