End of Season Report Card: Eze Pinto Ekwutoziam

Good morning Enyimba Fans

You know, sometimes football can be cruel. While the season was still fresh, Our star player went down with an injury just two days after our CAF game against Al Masry. The news spread like wildfire, and the fans were devastated. I couldn’t believe it myself and just like every other fan, we hoped that it was just a knock but unfortunately, That injury ruled him out for the rest of the season. Of course, you know I am talking about – Eze Ekwutoziam aka Pinto.

Pinto is one of those players I look forward to watching every match. His versatility—playing on the left, right, and even in the middle made him a real threat in the midfield. You could see his technical ability in how he moved the ball and created chances, and his work ethic was second to none. I remember the way he always gave his all, no matter the position he was playing. He Played 13 games in all competitions this season, scoring a goal.

The injury news hit us hard. I’m not gonna sugarcoat it – the mood was kinda somber and alot of the fans were visibly shaken. I felt that was the point when the team’s hopes for a higher league position, and the fans’ hopes for a season of joy, were cut short. I know you might want to argue that Enyimba is bigger than one player and I do agree with that narrative but how many players really showed up for Enyimba this season? Eze was out, Daga left, Clinton was not always with the team and even Obot was battling with his own injury.

Pinto’s impact went beyond just his skills on the pitch; his presence was a boost for the entire team. Without him, we felt lost, like a crucial part of our strategy was missing. In hindsight it is hard to imagine how things would have turned out if he had stayed fit, but one thing is for sure – his absence was deeply felt. Pinto’s qualities extend beyond his technical proficiency.  His commitment to the team is evident in his willingness to excel in multiple roles.  This dedication, combined with his unwavering support for his teammates, suggests a player who is not just talented, but also a valuable asset to the team’s morale.

Looking ahead to the next season, with Pinto fully recovered, Enyimba fans can dream of a different outcome.  His presence in the midfield whether operating as a creative spark or a defensive shield will undoubtedly add another dimension to the team’s tactical options.  Pinto’s versatility allows him to adapt seamlessly to various formations and match demands.  His ability to influence the game from different positions positions will be invaluable and because of that even though he didn’t play much last season, I will rate him a 6/10.

I believe that Pinto will be even more impactful on the pitch next season, potentially leading to a more successful campaign. The fans, still hurting from his absence, eagerly anticipate the day they see Pinto back on the pitch, showcasing his talent and dedication once again.

Back Tomorrow!
