Enyimba FC have endured a sluggish start to the 2026\/27 Euromatch NPFL season, compounded by fixture scheduling and rescheduling that has seen the Aba Giants play just one match in two weeks.<\/p>\n
That is about to change.<\/p>\n
The final two weeks of September will bring a whirlwind of activity, with Enyimba scheduled to play four matches in ten days.<\/p>\n
The football landscape in Aba is therefore poised for a serious injection of activity and buoyancy, with three clubs set to visit the city and the first two arriving within just three days of each other. For a club that has not hosted a league match since the season began in August, having two home games in quick succession is a bit like London buses \u2014 after a long wait, two suddenly arrive almost at once.<\/p>\n
This is where the team management and organisational ability of the club’s administrators must be at their very best to complement the work of the coaching staff.<\/p>\n
Whatever unresolved issues or distractions exist at the management level must be kept away from the team and relegated to the background as these four matches take centre stage. Matchday logistics and preparations must be thoroughly planned and strategically executed, with games coming every three days.<\/p>\n
Football matches are not won solely through superior tactical ideas, just as they are not necessarily lost because of inferior technical decisions. Poor management of logistics, inadequate welfare, indifferent fan engagement, crowd-control problems and security lapses can all have an impact on matchday.<\/p>\n
Everyone involved must therefore pull their weight in the same direction. All hands must be on deck.<\/p>\n
There is perhaps no better opportunity for the club management to win back the full support of the fans than the first home match of the season.<\/p>\n
In fact, Enyimba have two consecutive home matches to restore confidence and set the tone for what follows.<\/p>\n

Twenty-five players have featured in the squads for the first two matchdays, with a few more names potentially joining the pool before or during this demanding stretch.<\/p>\n

INTER LAGOS \u2014 SEPTEMBER 20, ABA<\/strong><\/p>\n The NPFL debutants are yet to get their season off the ground, sitting at the bottom of the table with zero points after three consecutive defeats.<\/p>\n A trip to Aba, home of nine-time league champions Enyimba, hardly looks like the most obvious place to find respite.<\/p>\n But Enyimba struggled against newly promoted sides last season and continued that worrying trend this term with the defeat to Doma United last Sunday.<\/p>\n Inter Lagos will therefore arrive hoping to benefit from what has suddenly become Enyimba’s new-found generosity towards newcomers.<\/p>\n That generosity must end here.<\/p>\n SPORTING LAGOS \u2014 SEPTEMBER 23, ABA<\/strong><\/p>\n Sporting Lagos are back in the NPFL after spending just one season away from the top flight following their relegation in 2023\/24.<\/p>\n The experience of their previous campaign should serve them well as they attempt to establish themselves in the league this time around.<\/p>\n The last time Sporting Lagos came to Aba, however, they were professionally dispatched 2-0, with Eze Ekwutoziam and Elijah Akanni getting on the scoresheet.<\/p>\n Enyimba will be looking for another three points.<\/p>\n KANO PILLARS \u2014 SEPTEMBER 27, KANO<\/strong><\/p>\n This is a traditional high-profile NPFL fixture, even if both clubs have experienced a decline in stature in recent years.<\/p>\n Kano Pillars, like Enyimba, survived relegation on the final day of last season. Their escape was particularly precarious, as they finished barely above the red line.<\/p>\n This match should provide an interesting opportunity to assess the progress of the rebuilding projects at both clubs.<\/p>\n But first, there is work to be done in Aba.<\/p>\n SHOOTING STARS \u2014 SEPTEMBER 30, ABA<\/strong><\/p>\n Still smarting from their first-round exit in the CAF Confederation Cup, 3SC will be hoping to quickly pick up the pieces and focus on making an immediate return to continental football rather than waiting another 27 years to fly the Nigerian flag in Africa.<\/p>\n This rescheduled Matchday Two fixture will bring Enyimba’s hectic September schedule to a close.<\/p>\n Shooting Stars have not won in Aba in several decades, and their most recent visit in December 2025 ended in a comprehensive 3-0 defeat.<\/p>\n A repeat performance would certainly lift the mood around Aba and provide another important boost to confidence.<\/p>\n But getting through this demanding schedule successfully will require more than enthusiasm.<\/p>\n It will take painstaking planning, proper preparation and precise execution to emerge from these ten days with more points won than lost.<\/p>\n And perhaps, when the dust settles, we will have a clearer picture of the complementary administrative and coaching work that has been taking place away from the public eye.<\/p>\n For now, there is no need to look too far ahead.<\/p>\n One match at a time.<\/p>\n One opponent at a time.<\/p>\n And give each one our very best shot.<\/p>\n Enyimba Enyi!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Good day, Elephants!
