Good day everyone!<\/p>\n

For 39 days, the world stood still.<\/p>\n

Well\u2026 almost.<\/p>\n

Sleep schedules were ruined, workplaces became quieter than usual, friendships were tested by football debates, and millions of people suddenly became tactical experts. Every evening came with another match to watch, another upset to discuss and another prediction to make. From Vancouver to Mexico City and from New York to Aba, the beautiful game held the world’s attention. It was more than just a football tournament; it was a global festival.<\/p>\n

One hundred and four matches. Sixteen host cities. Three host nations. Forty-eight countries chasing one trophy.<\/p>\n

Now, it is all over.<\/p>\n

The curtain has fallen on the 2026 FIFA World Cup<\/a>. The debates will continue for years, unforgettable moments will remain in our memories, and Spain deservedly leave North America as world champions. Another four-year journey towards the next World Cup in 2030 has officially begun.<\/p>\n

But while the rest of the football world turns its attention to the next World Cup cycle, another countdown has quietly been ticking away much closer to home.<\/p>\n

The NPFL is only about 37 days away.<\/p>\n

For Enyimba, our first match may not come until a couple of days later, but whether it is 37 or 39 days, one thing is certain: it is much closer than it appears.<\/p>\n

The World Cup was a wonderful distraction, but distractions eventually end. Reality always waits patiently, and our reality is one we cannot continue to ignore.<\/p>\n

Last season was unlike anything many Enyimba fans had experienced. For over two decades, relegation battles belonged to other clubs. We watched them from a distance, sometimes with sympathy, other times with indifference. Then suddenly, we found ourselves living that nightmare.<\/p>\n

Every matchday became an emotional rollercoaster. One week we believed we were safe. The next, we were calculating permutations and checking results from other centres before celebrating our own. It was unfamiliar territory for a club of Enyimba’s stature and, frankly, it was embarrassing.<\/p>\n

We survived, yes, but survival should never be mistaken for success. Escaping relegation was not an achievement; it was a warning. It exposed problems that had been building over the last three seasons. Hopefully, those responsible at the club see it the same way because no serious club moves from fighting relegation to talking about winning titles without doing serious work behind the scenes. Hope alone has never won a football league.<\/p>\n

The recent back-and-forth between the club and some former players also left a sour taste. It was not a good look for a club of Enyimba’s standing. Public disputes rarely benefit anyone, and hopefully those issues have now been resolved away from the spotlight. If they are still lingering, recruitment will become even more difficult because football is a small world. Players talk. Agents ask questions. Reputations travel faster than transfer news.<\/p>\n

Time is also not on our side. Thirty-seven days may sound like plenty, but any coach will tell you otherwise. Players need time to settle into a new environment, understand their new teammates, adapt to new ideas and build chemistry. Every year we hear coaches complain that poor pre-season preparations eventually show themselves during the campaign. We can only hope preparations are already in full swing.<\/p>\n

Another issue that cannot be ignored is what appeared to be the uneasy relationship between the new Sporting Director and the club chairman during the second half of last season. Whether it was as serious as many believed or not, there was enough speculation to create concern among supporters. A club cannot move forward if key decision-makers are pulling in different directions.<\/p>\n

Thankfully, there have been changes within the club in recent weeks. Some familiar faces have left while others have come in. Hopefully, those changes signal unity rather than another reshuffle without purpose. If there was indeed a misunderstanding, one can only hope it has now been been settled because no club can successfully chase success when different departments are pursuing different agendas. A house divided against itself hardly ever prospers.<\/p>\n

The hope is that while we were busy enjoying football from across the Atlantic, those entrusted with rebuilding our club were busy fixing the problems at home. Last season’s relegation battle was never the disease; it was merely the symptom. The real issues have been there for some time, and 37 days is not a very long time to solve them.<\/p>\n

Still, football has taught us that things can change quickly when the right decisions are made. Good planning, smart recruitment, clear leadership and unity of purpose can transform a struggling team faster than many expect.<\/p>\n

The countdown has begun.<\/p>\n

Hopefully, when the new season kicks off, we will see a different Enyimba\u2014not just in results, but in direction, ambition and identity.<\/p>\n

After all, impossible is nothing.<\/p>\n
