There is a popular Nigerian saying that if you travel anywhere in the world and do not find a Nigerian there, you should probably keep moving. It is funny on the surface, but it also says something about how far Nigerians have spread across the world.<\/p>\n
That thought brings me to our Enyimba family. Wherever you are reading this from, whether in Aba, Lagos, Abuja, London, Houston, or anywhere else, I greet you. Your passion for the People\u2019s Elephant keeps this community alive.<\/p>\n
And since we are talking about travelling, maybe it is time Enyimba started making travel plans too.<\/p>\n
Not for tourism.<\/p>\n
For continental football.<\/p>\n
As the 2026\/27 season approaches, the club must be clear about what success should look like. For me, the minimum target is simple: a continental ticket.<\/p>\n
Not survival. Not a comfortable mid-table finish. Not merely \u201cdoing better than last season.\u201d This is Enyimba Football Club. One poor season should not force us to lower the standard.<\/p>\n
Last season, we finished 13th with 49 points, just two points above the relegation zone. We scored 44 goals and conceded 42. Those are not numbers that belong beside Enyimba\u2019s name. Yes, we escaped, but survival is not success.<\/p>\n
Luck may save you for one season.<\/p>\n
It will not build a winning team.<\/p>\n
If Enyimba is serious about returning to the continent, ambition must be matched with action. Recruitment has to be sharper and more deliberate. The defence needs attention, the midfield needs stability, and every signing must solve a real problem.<\/p>\n
The dugout also has to inspire confidence. Last season\u2019s instability on the bench disrupted the rhythm of the team and left too many unanswered questions. Enyimba needs a technical crew with quality, clarity, authority, and the backing to build something stable.<\/p>\n
Player welfare must not be ignored either. Footballers do not perform in a vacuum. A motivated dressing room, proper support, discipline, and internal order are all part of what separates serious clubs from ordinary ones.<\/p>\n
So when we say continental or nothing, it is not empty noise. It is a demand that Enyimba becomes Enyimba again\u2014the revered, honoured, and celebrated Enyimba we all know.<\/p>\n
The People\u2019s Elephant was not built to crawl around the lower half of the table. This club has stood on the continent before and carried Nigerian football with pride. That identity must not be reduced to nostalgia.<\/p>\n
A continental ticket is possible, whether through the league or the President Federation Cup. But it will not come by slogans alone. It will require planning, recruitment, coaching, welfare, and unity of purpose.<\/p>\n
The sleeping giant must wake up.<\/p>\n
The People\u2019s Elephant must march again.<\/p>\n
Africa should be the destination.<\/p>\n
