First, the Abia State Government released a statement appointing Daniel Eke as Sporting Director of Enyimba FC. Clear. Direct. Signed. Sealed. Publicly announced. The same statement even clarified who is on the board and who is not, just in case anyone was confused.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Barely had the ink dried when Enyimba management issued their own release. Not to acknowledge the appointment, but to reassign the same Daniel Eke \u2014 not as Sporting Director \u2014 but as Chief Scouting Officer, while quietly installing Uche Okechukwu as Sporting Director. No explanation. No consultation. Just vibes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Then came the third act.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Daniel Eke himself released a rebuttal, stating plainly that he was appointed Sporting Director by the Governor, that the appointment has not been rescinded, and that the club chairman lacks the authority to downgrade a government-appointed Sporting Director. At the same time, the Abia State Government has appointed Emmanuel Deutsch as Head Coach. Two coaches. One dugout. No clarity. No authority. No footballing direction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This is not a misunderstanding.
This is administrative anarchy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Players do not know who answers to who. Coaches do not know who truly owns the dressing room. Sporting decisions are being made in parallel universes. And unsurprisingly, players are now on strike over unpaid bonuses \u2014 because while officials trade press releases and power plays, the most basic responsibility of running a football club has been neglected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And no amount of \u201crescue missions\u201d will save a club that cannot decide who is actually in charge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The tragedy is not that Enyimba is struggling.
The tragedy is that this struggle is entirely self-inflicted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Because right now, the only thing that is clear is this: nobody appears to be in charge and everyone wants to be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
