My Dad always said, “A man\u2019s strength is measured not by how well he explains his shortcomings, but by how little he relies on excuses.” So despite only going to bed at 3am and running the risk of being late for church, I\u2019m determined to roll out a blog post today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Yesterday gave us our first real look at the new Enyimba team, and the lineup was… well, interesting. Not a single name from last season made the sheet. Here’s what it looked like:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Aniebet Sunday, Bassey John, Abraham Michael, Onyebuchi Nwaorisa, David Igochi, Nzube Chukwura, Edidiong Ezekiel, Jacob Jonath, Henry Ndedi, Treasure Udo, Eze Chibuzo, Kelvin Ogunka, Joel Ezra, Bright Amadi, Emeka Onyema.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
These “new” boys did the business. Goals in the first and second minutes against Inter FC of Aba set the tone. With the contest practically over before it began, the boys could express themselves freely, unburdened by pressure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Then came the third, fourth, and fifth goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But one particular moment stood out in the 80th minute. The match update read:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“80′ PENALTY!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
David Igochi is caught lagging and exposed his defensive partner who hanged down Inter FC attacker.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I found that quite amusing. Poor David was named and shamed, yet the \u201cdefensive partner\u201d he allegedly exposed remained nameless. Very curious reporting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The game ended 5\u20132. Beyond the early blitz, the big headline was striker Abraham Michael grabbing a brace. Perhaps Father Abraham and Angel Michael have fused into one goal-scoring machine. Whatever the case, it is welcome news for our forward line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The tournament continues today, with a more serious test coming up against Heartland Football Club. Kickoff is 4pm. We\u2019ll talk about it tomorrow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That\u2019s all I\u2019ve got for now. Time to get ready for church.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
