This will be short. I promise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So, the Eko International Cup kicks off this weekend\u2014today, in fact\u2014and your Enyimba will be in white and blue, although we play on Monday. The rest of the contingent includes Remo Stars, Ikorodu United, and Rivers United.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There\u2019s Shooting Stars, and Kallon FC; whom we face in our opening match. Forgive me if I haven\u2019t heard much of them; I\u2019m just looking forward to 6pm on Monday when both teams line up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There are a couple of international sides as well: Accra Hearts of Oak, SuperSport United of South Africa, and of course, Kallon FC from Sierra Leone. Dadje FC of Benin Republic will also be in the mix.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The organizers say the games will be streamed on YouTube. I must commend them\u2014this is shaping up to be a solid line-up, and thank goodness we got invited.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In truth, there shouldn\u2019t be too much to expect beyond seeing new faces, and most likely, the mainstays for the upcoming season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It\u2019s pre-season, and with a ton of new players and very little training time, we should expect some disjointed play, players on different wavelengths, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I think this is one of those times where our name and rich history meant we couldn\u2019t be overlooked. I just hope we live up to the billing and give a good account of ourselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For me, it\u2019s an opportunity to see the players and begin to predict where the season\u2019s winds may blow us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
