We\u2019re a few hours from the final stretch of what has been a season-long tug of war with our emotions. Somewhere deep in the hearts of every true Enyimba fan, there’s still a flicker of belief \u2014 faint, maybe foolish, but still alive. Could we still sneak into the continent?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Let\u2019s be realistic. Here’s the table:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
3rd \u2013 Abia Warriors \u2013 56 pts
4th \u2013 Ikorodu City \u2013 53 pts
5th \u2013 Enyimba \u2013 52 pts
6th \u2013 Bendel Insurance \u2013 50 pts<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Four teams, one continental ticket. Only third place goes to the promised land.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Abia Warriors are in pole position, but their last three games aren\u2019t a walk in the park:
\u2022 Away to Niger Tornadoes in Kaduna
\u2022 Home against relegation-threatened El-Kanemi
\u2022 Final showdown vs Ikorodu City in Lagos<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On paper, they could win all three. But this is the NPFL \u2014 nothing is guaranteed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ikorodu City might just have the softest route:
\u2022 Host Bayelsa United (relatively safe)
\u2022 Visit Remo Stars (who have nothing left to play for)
\u2022 Wrap up with a potential winner-takes-all vs Abia Warriors<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Momentum \u2014 and Federation Cup motivation \u2014 may tilt things their way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bendel Insurance? A bridge too far.
\u2022 Home to Akwa United and Heartland (both desperate)
\u2022 Away to relegated Lobi Stars<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Even if they win all three, they\u2019ll need a miracle elsewhere. Possible? Maybe. Likely? Not quite.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Close the season at home vs Plateau United<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On paper, these look like three winnable games. But “on paper” hasn\u2019t always translated to “on the pitch” for us this season. Between unpaid allowances, mid-season drama, and a split personality squad, no one can predict which Enyimba will show up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We\u2019re close \u2014 so close we can almost taste it. But close isn\u2019t good enough unless we want it more than the others and show it where it matters most: on the field. Not forgetting that things will also need to go our way in other centres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There\u2019s a sliver of hope. But like someone told me yesterday, it\u2019s the hope that kills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
