I woke up today, stretched, rubbed my eyes, and did what every Enyimba fan with blood pressure issues should probably avoid\u2014I checked the table. And what did I see? We\u2019re down by one spot, thanks to El Kanemi Warriors, who decided to spice things up with a victory over Lobi Stars in Maiduguri. That win catapulted them to 8th, two places and two points ahead of us. Now, guess who\u2019s coming to Aba next? Yep, those same El Kanemi Warriors. Football gods do have a sense of humor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Let\u2019s be honest\u2014this season has been nothing short of disastrous by our standards. Horrible. Dreadful. Abysmal. Pick your adjective. But somehow, and quite shockingly, the rest of the league has been kind enough to wait for our rejuvenation as we wallowed in mediocrity. Well, everyone except Remo Stars, who clearly missed the memo and are out here behaving like they\u2019ve got somewhere important to be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But hey, this is where opportunity knocks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Only five points separate us from second place. Yes, you heard that right. Just five. That’s the NPFL for you\u2014a league where one bad weekend at home sends you spiraling from the penthouse to the basement, and one good week on the road makes you feel like you’re dining with royalty. All it takes is a handful of wins, a sprinkle of consistency, and a home run that doesn\u2019t involve us running ourselves into trouble.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With 11 matches left, the time for excuses is gone. We need to get our act together. Bring back the Enyimba that terrorizes opponents, the one that makes teams nervous before they even get off the bus. We’ve not really shown that side of ourselves since that late charge into the Super 6 two seasons ago and the sweet, sweet capture of our ninth league title. Instead, we\u2019ve been flirting with disaster, like we did last season with that nail-biting finish that barely dragged us into the continent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
From the fans to the management, the coaches to the kit men, and everybody in between, now is the time for full focus. Zero distractions. No funny business. If ever there was a time to put our heads down and grind, this is it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Yes, we\u2019ve got eight players out injured. Add Jephtha, who’s off on national duty, and that makes nine. Nine! That\u2019s almost a five-a-side tournament. But that’s why we have a big squad. This is not the time for hiding. Everyone who gets the call must step up. Play your heart out. Let merit speak louder than favoritism. Forget personal glory\u2014this is for the badge, for the fans, for the legacy. And if you’re a true fan? Praise when it’s good, criticize when it’s bad, but always, always stand with the team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Looking ahead, this month is no joke. We’re facing teams who are currently above us (except Bayelsa United), but here’s the kicker\u2014we could easily end the month above all of them but Remo Stars, unless they surprisingly get disbanded before the end of this month. But with more wins, fewer draws, and absolutely zero defeats, anything is possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We are Enyimba. We\u2019ve done it before. The question is\u2014do we still have it in us?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
