Happy New Month to everyone.
What a day it was at the Elephant Park. Yesterday’s game against Remo Stars was not just another league fixture. It was a proper emotional test. The kind of match that keeps you on the edge of your seat, checking the clock, holding your breath, and praying the team does not let the moment slip.
For Enyimba, the stakes were clear. We needed the points. Not for decoration, not for table cosmetics, but for survival. At this stage of the season, every result carries weight, and every mistake can reopen old fears.
The game started with good energy, and very early on, we had a chance to make life easier for ourselves. A poor back pass from Remo opened the door, Chidera Michael reacted quickly, and the ball eventually found Stanley Dimgba in a promising position. It was the kind of chance you want to bury early, especially in a game this important.
But Dimgba missed.
And for a moment, you feared that miss might come back to haunt us.
That fear grew stronger in the 20th minute when Victor Mbaoma, returning to Aba, reminded everyone of his quality. From close range, he punished us and gave Remo Stars the lead. It was painful, not just because we conceded, but because it came from a familiar face. Aba knows Mbaoma. Enyimba fans know what he can do. Yesterday, he showed it again.
But this time, Enyimba did not collapse.
That is the biggest thing I took from the game.
In the 29th minute, Dimgba found his answer. After missing the early chance, he stepped up and calmly brought us level. That goal was more than an equalizer. It restored belief. It changed the mood. It told Remo that Enyimba were not going to be pushed aside in Aba.
The second half began with another important moment. Dimgba made way for young Samuel Okechukwu, and it looked like a move designed to refresh the attack and keep Remo under pressure. Credit to the team, because we came out with purpose.
Then came the moment that lifted the stadium.
In the 49th minute, Wonah Williams delivered, and Chidera Michael finished. His 11th goal of the season. A big goal. A calm finish. A reminder that in a difficult campaign, some players are still standing up to be counted.
From there, the match became about nerve.
Could Enyimba manage the game? Could we defend the lead? Could we avoid the usual anxiety that has followed us too many times this season?
This time, we held on.
The final whistle confirmed it: Enyimba 2, Remo Stars 1.
A massive win. A needed win. A win that felt bigger than three points because of the pressure around it. Our first home league win against Remo in almost four seasons, and it came at a time when we badly needed something to believe in.
We are still not safe. Let nobody pretend otherwise. Sitting 11th with 46 points tells you the job is not finished. There is still work to do, still pressure to handle, still points to fight for.
But yesterday mattered.
It mattered because the team came from behind. It mattered because we answered a setback. It mattered because in a season where confidence has been fragile, Enyimba showed character when the match could easily have turned against us.
Now attention turns to Kwara United in Lagos. It will not be easy. Nothing is easy at this stage of the season. But if yesterday proved anything, it is that this team still has some fight left.
So we keep pushing.
No relaxation. No over-celebration. No false comfort.
Just belief, focus, and the hunger to finish the job.
Come on Enyimba.
Enyimba Enyi!
