Three Goals, Three Points, and Showers of Joy in Aba

Good morning, Enyimba family!

What a day it was yesterday in Aba.

As kickoff approached, the skies looked heavy, the clouds gathering as though rain was inevitable. But somehow, the heavens held back, almost as if they were waiting for Enyimba to finish the job first. And when the job was done, they finally opened up. It felt poetic. It felt timely. It felt like even the skies had chosen their moment to celebrate with us.

On the pitch, Enyimba gave the fans plenty to cheer.

The breakthrough came in the 24th minute when Stanley Dimgba reacted quickest to a rebound and fired us into the lead. Aba came alive. The crowd found its voice. The belief in the stands grew louder. Then, just six minutes later, Chidera Michael rose to head home Ufere’s beautifully delivered free kick and double the advantage. It was a huge goal, not just for the team, but for Chidera personally too, as it took him to 10 goals for the season. A fine return, and one that says plenty about his growing importance to this side.

At 2-0, Enyimba looked in control, but the game still demanded discipline. Ekene Awazie’s booking in the 35th minute was a reminder that no match can be taken for granted. Still, the team managed the rest of the half well and went into the break with a deserved two-goal lead.

The second half brought fresh legs and fresh energy as Coach Emmanuel Deutsch made a triple substitution, introducing Kalu Nweke, Samuel Okechukwu, and William Wonah. It was a proactive move, and Enyimba continued to look the stronger side.

Then came the moment that could have shifted the mood.

In the 70th minute, Katsina United were awarded a penalty after a handball in the box. For a brief moment, tension gripped the stadium. But Uche Collins failed to convert, and Enyimba’s clean sheet remained intact. It was a massive let-off and a moment that kept the game firmly in our hands.

Five minutes later, Wonah made sure there would be no late nerves. His strike from outside the box flew into the bottom corner to make it 3-0, putting the result beyond doubt and giving the scoreline the authority Enyimba’s performance deserved.

By the final whistle, the People’s Elephant had climbed to 12th on the table with 43 points. The fight is far from over, and the work is not yet done, but this was another big step in the right direction. In a season filled with pressure and uncertainty, this was the kind of result that restores confidence and reminds supporters that there is still something to fight for.

And then, almost right on cue, the heavens opened.

Rain poured down after the match as if the skies themselves had waited for the final whistle before joining the celebration. Showers after victory. Showers of relief. Showers of joy.

So to every Enyimba fan, keep the faith. Keep believing. Keep backing the team. The journey is not over yet, but with days like this, brighter moments no longer feel so far away.

Enyimba Enyi.
