Relegation Favorites Enyimba F.C. Settle for Point Against Khalifat FC

Good morning, Enyimba faithful,

Welcome to a new day, a new week, and a new month. Happy March. We hope you are still making strong progress toward your goals for the year.

As the Good Book reminds us, many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the will of God that prevails. Enyimba F.C. went into this fixture determined to secure maximum points against neighbors Khalifa FC of Owerri. Unfortunately, football had other ideas.

Played behind closed doors, in our final match without supporters, the atmosphere in Aba felt unusual. There were no fans in the stands and no chants in the air, just the sounds of the game itself. Even so, the visitors showed early that they had not come to make up the numbers. They were organized, disciplined, and ready to compete.

In the 20th minute, Daniel Okere came close to opening the scoring. After beating his marker and the goalkeeper, his effort was cleared off the line in what looked like a certain goal. Moments later, Paul Odeh’s well taken free kick narrowly missed the target.

Then, in the 36th minute, the setback arrived. James Ekebuike finished from close range to give the visitors the lead.

Just before halftime, captain Kalu Nweke was forced off through injury, along with Mohammed Hassaini. Afolayan Peters and Ekene Awaziem were introduced as we looked to regain control.

The second half was marked by urgency and sustained pressure. Chinedu Ufere tested the goalkeeper with a free kick in the 70th minute, but the equalizer remained elusive.

It finally came in the 85th minute when Ekene Awaziem reacted decisively and fired past the goalkeeper to level the score and restore belief.

Despite ten minutes of added time and relentless effort, the winning goal did not arrive. The match ended 1 to 1, a hard earned point, though not the three we had targeted.

Currently 15th on the NPFL table with 33 points, we know improvement is required. The season is still alive, and the fight continues.

We now turn our focus to our next fixture against Warri Wolves F.C., determined to respond with strength and purpose.
