I saw a few New Signings At Enyimba

Good morning Everyone! Welcome to August!

We inch closer to the start of a new League season. The club remains on a media blackout—no official word on new signings, while we keep hearing whispers of our players teaming up with other clubs. Intriguing times ahead, to say the least.

I was at Enyimba Stadium yesterday (yup!) to watch the team gear up for the new season. I spotted a few familiar faces and felt I had to come share with you here on the blog. Hopefully, the club ends this media silence and confirms these additions soon.

Disclaimer: While I take full responsibility for this write-up, this is not an official list. These are the players I recognized, but hey don’t rule out the possibility that my glasses need replacing. Cool? Let’s get to it:

Edidiong Ezekiel Enobong
Edidiong joined Akwa United in August 2023 and played for them last season. Before that, he had stints with Remo Stars and Dakkada. With Akwa now relegated, we hope this centre-forward was one of their silver linings.

Alao Godwin Dabani
It was reported that Dabani secured a move to FK Bylis in Albania’s top division. He had moved mid-season from Lobi Stars to Sunshine Stars before that overseas switch. He also played Kwara United at some point. A centre-forward who can also play out wide; versatility is always welcome.

Ifeanyi Okechukwu
Straight out of Niger Tornadoes, this defensive midfielder, nicknamed “Ify nwa mama” by me, was nominated for a League Bloggers Award in January and scored a couple of goals. A goal-scoring DM? Seen that before. And yes, I like it.

Christian Molokwu
A centre-back who can also slot in at right-back. That kind of versatility puts him in the same WhatsApp group as Markson Ojobo. Formerly of Heartland, he’s also played for Gombe United (2022/23), MFM (2021/22), and the now-defunct FC Ifeanyi Ubah.

David Philip
Another one from Uyo. This left-back has been with Akwa United since October 2019. Experienced and steady.

Henry Ndedi
A defensive midfielder reportedly signed from El-Kanemi Warriors, though Transfermarkt suggests he made a stop at Sporting Lagos before that. Let’s hope he’s the kind who shields the backline and keeps things ticking.

Okechukwu Johnson
Also listed as “Johnson Okechukwu,” this goalkeeper was last with Calabar Rovers. There were talks of trials in Turkey with Fenerbahçe U19, but no confirmed move abroad. A name to watch, maybe?

Kelvin Ogunga
Another goalkeeper, this time from Heartland. Joined them in September 2024, and now seems to have linked up with Enyimba. Fingers crossed we’re building something solid between the sticks.

Chris Madaki
Full Back that can play on either side. Listed as 29 and very well travelled. Make of that what you may. I watched him play for Pillars in the 2016 or so season. Then moved to Nasarawa as his involvements trickled down. Players 2023/2024 Season at Katsina United before he got a move to Mighty Jets. Of all Ekwueme’s signings, probably the one I am the least excited about. Glad to be proved wrong.

PS- Chris Madaki has been dropped by the club. Thank God

That’s all I’ve got for now. There are a few other players I couldn’t identify yet, but I’m hoping this list is enough to stir a bit of excitement—and more importantly, enough quality to bring us success this season.

Back tomorrow.
