Good morning!

Ah, the power of choices—one of the gifts that makes us human, setting us apart in a world of endless possibilities and, of course, consequences. Every step, every turn, and every decision molds who we are and where we’re headed. Today, Abia State is exercising that power, holding their local government council elections to make choices that’ll steer their future. And yes, let’s leave the conspiracy theories outside the door this morning—they’re not welcome here today!

Just as Abians head to the polls, our team is gearing up in Yenagoa, where they’re making a series of choices themselves. Some big calls have already been made—like the traveling squad, the temporary base camp, the meal plans, and the playbook for the week. But there are still many decisions hanging in the balance. Who makes the starting XI? What are the finishing touches in the strategy? Who brings that extra grit in the final minutes?

In football, choices abound at every turn. Will management choose to think ahead, planning for the upcoming continental travel and preparation needs? Will players choose to follow every instruction to a T or adapt on the fly as they read the game? Will they choose to control their tempers when tempers flare, or could a split-second reaction put the team in jeopardy? And on the pitch, the biggest choice of all: will they strike with urgency to convert chances, or wait, hoping the perfect opportunity presents itself?

The board, or will I say the chairman and his guys, too, faces their own set of choices. In times like these, will they choose to invest in strengthening the squad or trust in what we already have? Will they actively support Yema and his team, or will they decide to wait and see? And let’s not overlook the importance of their engagement with fans and more importantly transparency around decisions—choices that can either bridge or widen the gap between the club, its loyal supporters and potential partners. Every boardroom decision echoes through the season and sometimes beyond, shaping what kind of team Enyimba can ultimately become.

And finally, there’s us, the fans—the ones in the stands, in the living rooms, and following along from afar. Will we choose patience when the going gets tough, or will frustrations cloud our support? Will we rally behind the team through every challenge, lending our voices to push them forward either without fear of victimisation or with heavy sentiments to favour our “friends”? As fans, our choices hold power too. When we believe in the team, they feel it. When we criticize constructively, they learn from it. When we support wholeheartedly, they push harder. Today, just as we’re watching their choices unfold, let’s remember our own role in lifting this team up.

On the bright side, Ani Ozoemena and Eze Ekwutoziem might be back in the lineup after wrapping up their time at the CHAN Eagles camp, while Clinton Jephtha gets some well-deserved rest after a successful U20 tournament in Togo.

November promises to be action-packed, with continental play kicking off before month’s end. Let’s hope everyone on and off the field makes the right choices, keeping in mind that every decision comes with its own set of consequences.
