Good morning Enyimba Fans,
As an Enyimba supporter, I’ve followed the team through numerous seasons, and this one has been somewhat of a mixed bag for Kalu Nweke. While he’s shown flashes of potential, I can’t help but feel that he didn’t quite reach the level I was hoping for this season. He’s the kind of player who can produce moments of brilliance, but I believe he needs to do more consistently to really make a significant impact.
When the season started, I wasn’t sure what to expect from Nweke. Under Yema, he often seemed to be on the fringes, coming off the bench rather than being a regular starter. Then, once Stanley Eguma took charge, he got more opportunities playing roughly 23 league games. That’s a positive sign, but I expected him to take more responsibility and show greater maturity on the pitch. Instead, I sometimes felt he was a bit subdued, not asserting himself enough in key moments.
That goal against Abia Warriors was a highlight, no doubt. It was a well-taken shot, and it showed what he’s capable of. Still, I think he should have been more consistent in creating chances and influencing games beyond just scoring when the opportunity arose. With 3 assists, he contributed, but I was hoping for him to be more involved in playmaking and to take more initiative in tight situations.
What’s clear is that Nweke has good movement and the ability to find space, which is valuable. However, he often seems to hesitate or lack the urgency to press defenders or track back when needed. Football is a full package, and I believe he needs to improve his defensive contribution. If he can work on his positioning and become more disciplined defensively, he could become a more well-rounded player. That extra grit and awareness could elevate his role within the team.
Looking ahead, I see potential in Kalu, but I also think he should set higher personal standards. He’s got the talent, but to truly develop, he needs to add more consistency, work on his defensive duties, and become more assertive in games. I’d like to see him take more control of the midfield, not just as a creative spark but as someone who can influence both attack and defense.
In summary, Nweke has shown glimpses of what he can do, but I was expecting more from him this season. There’s still room for growth, and with the right focus and effort, he could step up next season. I’d give him a 6.5/10 for his performance this term, hoping he can improve and become a more complete player moving forward.
That’s all for today. Have a great day, Enyimba fans!
