Today’s spotlight is on our number 30, Ekene Awaziem, a young talent with clear potential but room to grow. As passionate supporters, we love seeing our players develop, and while Ekene has shown promise this season, he’s yet to fully hit his stride.
Ekene featured in 20 matches across the Nigerian Premier Football League and CAF competitions, displaying notable qualities. His off-the-ball movement and knack for arriving in dangerous positions stand out. He scored four goals—against Nasarawa (H), Rangers (A), Bayelsa (H), and Shooting Stars (H)—proving he can find the net when well-placed. However, to become a consistent threat, he must sharpen his decision-making in the final third and stay composed under pressure.
On the ball, Ekene’s physicality and dribbling give him an edge, allowing him to take on defenders and create chances. When confident, he drives forward and delivers dangerous crosses. Yet, his game lacks consistency, with rushed decisions often leading to misplaced passes or lost possession. Improving his technical awareness, particularly in tight spaces, will make him more effective in link-up play and crucial moments.
Defensively, Ekene has work to do. His positioning and tracking back need refinement, and a higher work rate without the ball would make him a more complete player. Developing tactical discipline—knowing when to press or hold shape—will strengthen his contribution to the team’s structure and align with the demands of modern football.
I’d rate Ekene’s season a 6.5/10. His raw talent is evident, but to take the next step, he must focus on better decision-making, technical consistency, and tactical awareness. These improvements will elevate his impact in both attack and defense.
In summary, Ekene has the tools to succeed, but refining his composure, decision-making, and positional play is crucial. With hard work and the right guidance, I’m confident he can become a reliable, influential figure for Enyimba.
You know how it goes, Ill be back tomorrow.
‘Enyimba Enyi!
