Enyimba v Bayelsa United: No Room for Errors

It’s Matchday!

By 4 PM today, we take center stage at home, hosting 14th-placed Bayelsa United in what promises to be a tricky encounter. This fixture brings back memories of last season—particularly when we were fresh off that unforgettable debacle at the Cathedral, one that left us heavily fined. But that’s in the past, and the past is where it belongs. Our focus is now.

Once again, Bayelsa United find themselves clawing for survival. This is their second consecutive season battling relegation, and as we all know, desperate teams are dangerous teams. Isah Ladan Bosso’s rescue mission hasn’t been a total disaster, but the Prosperity Boys are far from safe. And we know exactly how teams in that situation fight—tooth and nail, every single minute.

Elsewhere, Bendel Insurance’s home win yesterday means we’ve slipped to 9th on the log, but the margins are razor-thin. With an extremely dominant performance and a huge stroke of luck with other results, we could climb as high as 3rd by the end of today. Imperious? Maybe. Possible? Not really, because no team is going to roll over for us—we must race out of the blocks and take control from the start. As Eguma keeps preaching, it’s about taking this season one game at a time.

All eyes will be on Joseph Atule today. And rightly so. Three goals in his last three league games—he’s earned the attention. But this also means NPFL defenders will be watching him extra closely, likely throwing every trick in the book to shut him down. This is where his teammates must step up. Imagine if our forward line could match his tempo and form. Just imagine.

We also keep sending our best wishes to our injured warriors—Ekwutoziam, Asuquo, and Ihemekwele and co. Their absence has been felt, and we can’t wait to have them back on the pitch where they belong.

The Supporters’ Club Chairman’s rallying cry yesterday wasn’t bad though. Maybe I’ll share my thoughts on that soon. But for now, there’s only one thing that matters—getting all three points today.

May we prosper today.

Enyimba Enyi!
