Another Day, Another Defeat
We lost again. 2-1 to Katsina United at the Mohammed Dikko Stadium, with Lukman Bello scoring twice to sink us despite Ekene Awazie’s late penalty in stoppage time. Another away game, another two goals conceded. The struggle is real.
Eguma shuffled the pack, handing starts to Afolayan Peter in defense, replacing the suspended Pascal Eze, and Solomon Onome, stepping in for the injured Imo Obot. The backline was completed by Chisom Okechukwu and Obichere Wisdom, while Fatai Abdullahi, Chigozie Umeh, and Elijah Akanni held things down in midfield. Up front, we had Issah Mohammed, Joseph Atule, and Ifeanyi Ihemekwele leading the charge.
It was the Lukman Bello show as he struck in both halves while our boys labored through another frustrating away performance. Awazie’s late penalty gave us some consolation, but that’s all it was—a consolation.
As expected, Eguma wasn’t pleased. He lamented our poor conversion rate (a familiar tune) and our inefficient dominance—we look good in spells but fail to make it count. With the new faces in the squad, we can only hope that we start scraping points from every venue before this season spirals out of control.
Now, here’s something that caught my eye this morning—while we’re 17 points off the top, we’re actually closer to 2nd place than 2nd is to 1st. If that isn’t peak NPFL madness, I don’t know what is. But here’s the real kicker—our form means we’re also just six points away from a relegation scrap. Talk about walking a tightrope.
Up next, we switch gears to the State FA Cup final against Ahudiyannem FC of Abiriba, after Jaguar FC withdrew from the competition. It could be the first silverware of this era—or just another game to survive. Either way, all die na die.
Back tomorrow.
Enyimba Enyi!
