Match Preview: Enyimba vs Nasarawa United

It’s Matchday!

Our first home game of the year, right here in Aba, and it’s time to stamp our authority on the NPFL stage. No new year pep talks today—yesterday’s blog handled all the resolutions we need for a successful 2025. If you missed it, scroll back, take notes, and play your part. Now, let’s shift focus to today’s showdown at the Elephant Park.

Fresh off a continental high, it’s the perfect moment to double down with domestic success. Sure, some may look at our opponents, Nasarawa United, and dismiss them as easy pickings, but hold up! Let’s give credit where it’s due—they earned their spot in the NPFL. That said, we’re here to remind them why humility is key.

The Solid Miners have had a rocky start to their NPFL season—literally digging deep at the bottom of the table. With just five wins, four draws, and nine defeats, they’re in stiff competition with the “Promise Keepers” for the league’s basement. It’s been a harsh welcome back to the big league after a decent NNL run. Their top scorer, Anas Yusuf, is likely missing in action today thanks to CHAN camp duties. Without him, they’re missing their sharpest pickaxe.

Still, Nasarawa United won’t roll over. They’ve shown fight before, almost nicking a point against Heartland FC in Owerri. Under Kabiru Dogo’s guidance, expect grit, determination, and a stubborn resistance. But grit can only get you so far when you’re facing a stampede of Elephants.

For us, this is a chance to ride the wave of Sunday’s 4-1 demolition job on Black Bulls. A second convincing win will not only push us above Abia Warriors into 7th on the NPFL table but also send a clear warning to Al Masry, who come calling on Sunday.

Stanley Eguma’s tenure has started brightly—no goals conceded at home, no trailing in any game so far. Call it the new coach syndrome or Initial Gra Gra, but it’s a momentum we can and should sustain. Eguma says the mood in camp is electric, the players are fired up, and it’s time to show that on the pitch once again.

As the second of five games in 15 days, this match is also a chance to rotate the squad, rest some tired legs, and hand debuts to others. Three points and a healthier goal difference are the goals for today. Keep your eyes on the prize because it’s still POssible.

So, by 4 pm, all roads lead to the Elephant Park. Let’s keep the Solid Miners exactly where they belong—beneath the surface, digging for scraps. Aba is our turf – only 3 points will do.
