Youth League: Baby Elephants crush Baby Warriors 6-0

Good morning Enyimba fans,

As we eagerly anticipate the small matter of an Abia Derby looming on the horizon – it is hard to imagine when a fixture of this magnitude has stronger consequences for Warriors than for us. Especially at this stage of the season.

Abia Warriors, third on the log, are faced with a real possibility of a Continental ticket. That will be possible with a win over Enyimba at the hallowed Aba grounds. That is as tough an expedition as can be. It will be interesting how things unfold and Sunday cannot come soon enough.

In the meantime, the youth teams of the respective clubs had a go at each other on Thursday at the on-going N-Youth League Cup. And while a 6-0 pummeling sealed the fate of the Umuahia based side, it was the sensational Nelson Sule who made all the headlines.

Sule has been on fire, scoring an impressive 19 goals for the Enyimba U19. His incredible form has left many wondering why he hasn’t been given a chance to shine with the main team, especially with Ihemekwele injured, Ideye frozen out, and Nnaji yet to find form.

Apparently Coach Eguma leans more toward experience and Sule will have to wait for his opportunity. For now, his job description will have to be terrorizing defenses in the youth league. I believe Enyimba should invest more in the youth setup – the pros outweigh the risks.

In the second half, Enyimba upped the tempo added 3 more goals to complete the rout. Sule got his third and fourth piling the misery for the baby Warriors. The impressive win maintains Enyimba U19’s fight for the top spot on the league table.

With two matches left to play in the N-Youth League Cup, Enyimba U19 is sitting pretty with 40 points from 18 matches. They’re currently third on the log, behind Atlantic Business and Sunshine Stars U19, who have 41 points from 19 and 18 matches respectively.

Can they keep up the momentum and finish strong? The Young Elephants are certainly capable of making a deep run in the competition. They have our blessings and best wishes.
It remains to be seen what the scoreline on Sunday will be. Is this a dress rehearsal? A revenge for the bigger brothers or yet another Enyimba triumph? We shall see.

Enjoy your Friday and ill be back again soon.
