Fed Cup: El-Kanemi v Enyimba – A Faint Continental Dream

Good morning Everyone

The Holidays are over and some football is back. I won’t pretend like I’m not upset at some of you who had your festivities and enjoyments going all by yourself. No one cared to even share any of your pleasantries with me. Where’s the love people? How sad.

Enyimba returns to action today. We play in the next phase of the President’s Federations Cup like it’s being called now. I wont take the bait to talk about what I feel about Mr. President. He’s probably gonna go down in history as the very worse of Nigeria’s Presidents – unless he somehow magically turns the Economic tide of the country. There’s 2 years left for that.

Again, Enyimba face El-Kanemi Warriors in Abuja for a place in the next round. Warriors themselves won the Competition last year after beating Abia’s own Warriors in the final. It was a game that I had hoped the Umuahia warlords would come out on top. Alas, it didn’t happen.

The mission is clear – beat them and we still have a chance, something to play for as we eye a place in the Continent. If we lose, then that brings this very sad season to a pitiful end. The Question is – will we? Clearly we can – both teams won their respective duels at home, but on a neutral ground, who takes it?

Coach Eguma will need to show us something else today. According to stats, he hasn’t been much of a difference. In fact when compared to Yema who i think the club sabotaged, Eguma has actually done alot worse. Points, goals Scored, goals Conceded, style of play etc. Fortunately for Eguma, he still has the job and thus he can redeem himself.

Looking at the remaining teams still alive in this competition, Rivers United and Rangers/Heartland look like the toughest ones. In other words, we have a relatively easy route to winning this competition if we give it the seriousness it deserves. A place in the competition should be enough motivation, you’d think.

Lets hope the boys are up for it.

We hope to bring you live updates on X from the game. As yet we haven’t confirmed that 100%, but we have that in the works. Hopefully we get it over the line.

Back tomorrow
