Good day!
It’s a beautiful Sunday, buzzing with anticipation from all corners. In Aba and over there in Lagos, where our boys are camped, refreshed after their flight and are raring to go, it’s a day of worship, reflection, and most importantly—football!
Now, here’s a little milestone worth celebrating: for the first time since Week 5, we’ve managed to string together consecutive wins. And if you really want to dig deep, you’d have to go back to Weeks 1 & 2 to find the last time we won back-to-back with a home-and-away combo. Three in a row? We haven’t done that yet this season. But hey, every great story starts somewhere.
Tonight, we step into the Mobolaji Johnson Arena as guests of Ikorodu City—the Oga Boys, or as we’d call them in local parlance, ụmụ boị. But don’t be fooled by the name, they’re not here on any apprenticeship program. In fact, they’re the highest-ranked team in the Southwest after Remo Stars. Since Nurudeen Aweroro took charge, only Remo and Rivers United have picked up more points, turning what many dismissed as a struggling side into a serious contender.
But hold up—we’ve got history on our side. When Aweroro first took charge, he went on a solid unbeaten run. That is, until he met Enyimba and the mill ground to a halt. Now, we find ourselves in a similar position, looking to extend our own run and prove we’re still the team everyone should fear.
While plenty of people in Lagos believe we stand no chance, that’s not the mood in our camp. Ufere Chinedu, Junior Lokosa, and Stanley Eguma have all spoken with confidence, and while we know that football is played on the pitch—not in interviews—we choose to trust our boys to bring home the goods.
And here’s a little fun fact: Lagos has been kind to us. We won our last two league titles in this city, and if history has a say, it might just smile on us again tonight.
Kick-off is 5:30 PM, and we’re hoping for a sweet return.
Enyimba Enyi!
