Finding Our Rhythm: Can Enyimba Keep the Momentum?

Good morning!

It’s been a minute since we last strung together two straight league wins. In fact, the last time we did was in the first five games of the season. So yeah, this little streak—back-to-back 1-0 wins against Niger Tornadoes in Lafia and El Kanemi Warriors in Aba—feels like a breath of fresh air. You can almost sense the confidence creeping back into certain quarters around the club.

A quick glance at the table tells an interesting story. We may be sitting 8th, but guess what? We’re just 3 points off third place. And our next game? A showdown in Lagos against 3rd-placed Ikorodu City. There’s still time before that one, so let’s focus on ourselves first. When the time comes, we’ll discuss the young, confident, decent, but incredibly loudmouthed ụmụ boị.

Now, let’s not get carried away. Are we out of the woods? Far from it. Big kudos to Joseph Atule for delivering the winning goals in our last two matches, but there’s still something missing—something that hasn’t fully clicked yet.

Since our victory over Ikorodu City back in October, teams have stopped fearing us. Imagine that! Enyimba—the club that literally helped preserve two extra continental slots for the NPFL—now struggling to command respect? We’ve gone from being the team everyone dreads to a side opponents fancy their chances against. Unacceptable.

Talking about respect, teams should be shivering at the thought of facing us. But right now? We’re like a wounded lion—dangerous, but not feared. A typical case of ụkwụ jie agụ, but e never spoil kpata kpata. The good news? There’s still time to restore that aura.

A more dominant display, a bolder attitude, and a no-nonsense approach will go a long way in setting things right. Eguma keeps preaching about a morale boost in the camp, and maybe it’s time to believe that a real run is on the horizon.

Unbeaten in 3. Let’s stretch it as far as possible and see where it takes us.

Enyimba Enyi!
