Enyimba v El-Kanemi Warriors Match Preview

Good morning Everyone,

We square up against El-Kanemi Warriors this afternoon at the Elephant Park aka Enyimba Stadium. If you ever heard the term – “A Game of Epic Significance”, this one is as typical an example as there is.

Much has been said here on the blog regarding this very tough league season. I however think that, that elongated 3 day trip to Maiduguri was the first public show of the chaos by our administrators. Like a dynamo, it cascaded into many more events, the least spoken of, the better. But El-Kanemi away was the beginning of it.

That aside, we have a League season to save, and that we must. We play at home, a ground where we have struggled alot this season. We have record Home draws this season- much again a blame to be shared by the players, coaching crew and management alike. Again I digress – however nothing short of 100% home record can save our season from this point.

Warriors themselves have had a Jekyll and Hyde Season. Interestingly, they started the season in the Continent. Although that ended before it realistically started – they did boast a decent home run but going into this tie, they have one win in 5. That run includes an away draw at Heartland 2 weeks ago.

What that means in plain terms is that we have a proper game on our hands against a very tough opponent. Interestingly also, Warriors have scored just twice in the last 5 games. They may not score but they’ll also make life hard for the opposition attack. This means our attack must be on song from the first whistle.

These are the sort of games Stanley Eguma should win as per his pedigree. 3 points here will get us up to 8th at the least on the log. If we are indeed making a late run toward an undeserved Continental ticket, then a win today has to be the minimum acceptable result.

This should be tough but we should prevail. Hopefully we have good news to share on the blog tomorrow.

Meanwhile, watch out for updates via our X handle from 3pm local time.
