Enyimba FC winger, Ekene Awazie, has expressed unwavering confidence ahead of his team’s crucial NPFL matchday 28 showdown against Elkanemi Warriors at the Enyimba International Stadium, Aba, on Sunday. The explosive winger insists that The People’s Elephant are fully focused and determined to secure maximum points as they push to reclaim their dominance in Nigerian football.
The Nine time NPFL champions have had an inconsistent run this season, but Awazie believes the squad is hitting top gear at the right time. Speaking to Enyimba Media after the team’s Friday evening training session, the former FC Ifeanyi Ubah star emphasized the players’ collective determination to get back to the top.
“Yeah, the boys are ready for the game against Elkanemi Warriors on Sunday and to get the maximum points,” Awazie declared. “We need to get back to our normal position, which is back to the continent. That is where Enyimba belongs, and we are all working hard to make it happen.”
The last time both sides clashed in the league, Usman Abbas’ first-half goal in Maiduguri separated them, handing Elkanemi Warriors a narrow 1-0 victory. However, history favors Enyimba, who have won six of their last 14 competitive encounters against the Maiduguri-based side, drawing four and losing four. Awazie and his teammates are keen to improve that record by ensuring all three points remain in Aba.
