Today. I’ll tell you a story. In the winter of 2020, a “virus” emerged in the world. The news told us it was started in China and the world seemingly unawareof this virus, didn’t know what hit them. What followed was, lock downs, masks, vaccine mandates as the very fabric of our society was severely tested.
As countries battled to understand and contain this “virus”, there was another group with a specific job description. They were spreading lies. In fact this group had a clear matching order- scripts written for them which they shamelessly echoed daily through their channels.
These men and women knew that most people didn’t know what was going on and boldly they issued directives given by their task masters. From fear mongering to daily numbers of infected people/deaths to verbal attacks and “cancelation” of anyone who dared “question the science” and ultimately to promoting the vaccine.
For years, they seemed to have the upper hand, aided by the social media drive to shut down “disinformation”. Now the years have come and gone and it has become clear that these folks lied about everything. The virus, the spread numbers, the dead bodies and incidents, including the origins of covid and worse of them all, how safe the vaccines were.
These were established media outlets and they used their platforms to propagate this lie. Daily, weekly, it didn’t matter if the information was untrue, the fact was that the populace needed to be coached and coaxed into doing what the paymasters wanted. The truth hence did not matter, they have been paid to lie and they had to “earn” their money.
This is where we are today as a society. People have abandoned the principles to which they became journalists. They are now chasing whatever gig it is that pays the bills. Truth has now become secondary and dissenting voices have to be put down. The guy saying the truth has to be shut up and discredited because now your source of livelihood has come under threat. What a shame.
The trouble with being paid to lie is that your integrity or whatever is left of it, diminishes with every lie you tell. Your paymasters know you are nothing but a dishonest mercenary. Your audience know same and so does every other person. The only one who doesn’t know this, is you: you that has given yourself the justifying excuses as to why you do what you do.
Everyday on this blog, we garner support for Enyimba. We cheer loudest when we win and point out the club’s failings especially in view of the adverse effect in the long run. But you, because the club provides stipends for you, you take the stand to promote darkness as light through your platform and you are loud mouthed about it.
The problem, with this, my dear friend, is that your integrity is all in tatters. And people will remember on what side of the divide your brand stood/represented. They will remember what you typed when clearly things were going bad for this football club. And long after the food and money is gone, people will remember what you stood for and will always ascribe it to you.
Ill say, choose very wisely. Your choice will forever be the prism through which the world views your brand- again ill say choose carefully.
