Good morning Ndi oma,
How goes the battle? Hopefully the good guys are winning. Sometimes it doesn’t always feel that way. But the hope is that being good pays off eventually and that people reap the evil they sow, sooner or later. Such balance helps cleanse the earth and inspires people to embrace right and not evil.
Enyimba is back in action today, albeit in a less than stellar fashion. It’s the State FA Cup against Abia Warriors. How serious a contest that is, is left to be seen but I do wonder what the Abia State FA has become nowadays. I do recall about 10 years ago when I worked actively around the club, it always felt like a joke.
The State Football Association is supposed to be a developmental body for football development in the State. However it appears like hosting the FA Cup is all they are able to do. I could be wrong here but there’s hardly any material I’ve found online that supports the contrary. How exactly do you further develop the most popular sport – Football without visionary leadership?
It reminds me of when Jay Jay Okocha was made the FA Chairman of Delta State Football Association and for years even the annual competitions just didn’t happen. It is the danger of assuming that because a person could manage to kick around a football, they can be equally good on the other side of the white line.
I digress, I know. Back to Enyimba. So the gist isn’t very clear. But it appears like we are playing a first leg today. And then we have some kind of screening for some wannabe Enyimba players. So is the clash with Warriors a trial match for the new players and not an intense State FA Cup clash with Warriors? Or maybe there are two games in play here.
What we know for sure is that there is some intense screening in place. Nearly two dozens of players are on trials – Nigeria abounds with talent no doubt. I hope our technical team can successfully shift the chaff from the wheat and not let a world beater slip through from off our sieve. It has to be the toughest decision in football management – identifying which player will be a true gem at a young age.
Finally for today, we haven’t yet brought you more information regarding the Enyimba Podcast project we shared a few days ago. Hopefully we can wrap that up today and have some fun news for you in that regard tomorrow. That’s all I can cook this Friday morning. We should have more tomorrow.
