Results can change your life and your club.

Good morning Everyone.

I’m scribing this as the last thing I’m doing before going to bed tonight, just to ensure you wake up to this post early Wednesday morning. The alternative means writing this sometime past noon in Nigeria and by then your day may have taken the dominant drive it wants to. Who wants that? Moreover, I tend to have fewer readers when I post a lot later.

The joyous mood in camp is palpable. A win, an away win seems to have invigorated both players and fans. Talk about a very overdue result, especially considering how badly our Oriental Derby went. Despite the fact that we had come from behind to get the point, many still viewed it as a draw that felt like a defeat. Heartland ought to be 6 points. In the end, it was just 4.

Lobi Stars however said; “Not To Worry, I have all 6 points for you”. They happily obliged us and with it, we got our second away win of the season. It gets us up to 8th on the log and should we follow up with back to back wins, we may be within touching distance of the League leaders. This is what makes the Nigerian League intriguing. A couple of away wins plus a flawless home record and you’re dreaming like Remo Stars.

This is what Brown Ideye was talking of in his interview last week. Making it to the Continent is so easy. But if we haven’t set our house in order, we will be exposed by the better prepared teams. We had lamented only a few weeks ago on how abysmal this team has been. Does a couple of away wins now make us Prime Barcelona, overnight?

Stability is crucial. The average club chairman can outlast a State Governor. And in most cases, you can build a case for your continued governance at the club. This is where having a clear vision and plan for the football club comes into play. If you have a well documented plan and have the technical crew, fans, players and board buying into it, you are likely to succeed.

While we may have made some mid-season acquisitions, preserving  a good bunch of the playing personnel beyond this season has to be the goal. The goal has to be quality recruitment. Enyimba can be a fun place – especially when the right players are recruited and wins are coming back to back. Aba fans will sing your praises because it won’t be alot to do to win them over.

Meanwhile, I heard of a Pastor who had prayed for the Enyimba players a few days ago. The clergy had been informed on Enyimba’s poor run and he prayed for the team shortly before the game on Monday. The result? A precious away win. Hopefully we got as much prayers as we need for the rest of the season. I’m glad to give him his accolades if we swing this title. We shall see.

That’s all I got for you today. There’s talk about the Elephant Podcast. Hopefully we can wrap up there nicely and we can share the news on here.

Back tomorrow
