Maputo 3-0 Enyimba: A very sad Result

Good morning Everyone!

Our thin expectations of a 6 points off Black Maputo got crushed as we got pummeled 3-0 on Sunday afternoon. A goal in the first half, and a further 2 after the interval sealed the deal and a club which cannot find any kind of break right now, succumbed to yet another awful showing.

Dissecting this result is tough. But as I was quick to point out on X, this is not totally surprising. I’m not one to defend poor performances but as fans we just need to ask why? Why is our team underperforming? Why aren’t we scoring goals? Why are members of the team arriving for games literally one hour to kickoff?

The condition and output of this team should trouble the management. Late last week, we learnt that salaries were being halved. I will be glad to retract this statement if it is false. And tender and unreserved apology to that effect but ill be surprised if that is the case.

For weeks on the blog here we had hammered on the nonexistent leadership at the club. Kanu Nwankwo and Ifeanyi Ekwueme and their stooges are running down this club in record time. The ancestors will be turning in their graves as to what this institution has become.

A professionally run club should have a management that actually care and for all his good work, Governor Alex Otti is in danger of ruining his legacy – He, if care is not taken, will go down as the Governor that destroyed Enyimba. What a shame that would be.

Clubs quickly become yesterday’s clubs with visionless leadership. If we had a game in the Continent, how are we arriving a day before? And how are two players who should have been on the team arriving shortly before kickoff. Why Is the management planning and running this club like it is some roadside academy?

At 1-0, away from home, maybe a fight back could have ensued or maybe not but tired legs from an ill planned trip sets in and we concede 2 more. This team also is severely lacking in quality and by January, we have more looming exits. Has the Sporting Director identified signings we need to make? Or is he more concerned with helping himself out?

Has anyone noticed how empty the Aba Stadium is on matchdays? Such things happen when there is a leadership lapse.

So we lost 3-0 and Nasarawa is next, what happens before then is anyone’s guess. I miss Enyimba. The true Enyimba. Sigh

Back tomorrow
