Good morning Gents and Ladies.

It’s the Tuesday of a very crucial week for us. As you are aware, the club is facing a race against time to clear up the outstanding bills to ex players otherwise about 15 players will have their licenses withdrawn. Small matter right? Especially considering that it’s just a paltry sum – less than $5000.

A couple of other teams are on the list of shame – a list that Enyimba shouldn’t be anywhere near. But it’s a Nigerian problem isn’t it? People who are appointed to administer funds to others – decide what and when/if they will pay you. I remember the former Governor of Kogi State who owed salaries for over a year. Not that the funds aren’t there – but they felt their greed needed it more urgently than the people who it is their only source of livelihood.

If you go preaching of how desperately wicked the human heart is, you’re accused of taking it too far. The truth is, alot of people are suffering. To many, that job is the singular income source. So when I see people, attacking the income source of others, I know it’s nothing short of the character of the devil. Just like what happened doing covid and people were fired from their jobs because they refused the vaccine.

So they’ll rather these people starved to death because of the vaccine. Fast forward, few years in the future, some people have permanent injuries courtesy of the vaccine. You don’t care that the breadwinners’ family will likely go hungry. Your desire to acquire things for yourself and your family is to you, more important. Evil.

Back to Enyimba, I am pretty sure though, the club will clear these outstanding bills in time for the next game – an away game at Yenegoa. Although you bet the club will be better poised with a distraction-free preparation. Imagine training with players who you’re unsure if they will be allowed to play the game you’re preparing them for. Its a mess. But this will be sorted in time, yea? Why not?

The other dominant thought i wanted to share is with the return of ex players to the League. We can see how Ahmed Musa’s signing has rejuvenated Kano Pillars. The guy scores in almost every game and it is so difficult to not feel jealous looking at such quality addition to their ranks. Should he have come to Enyimba? I’ll answer that in a bit.

Over there at Rivers United, Brown Ideye is poised to join them as is Godwin Obaje at Enugu Rangers. And who is joining Enyimba? Crickets. Crickets. Nobody. Enyimba, despite playing on the Continent isn’t looking like a choice destination for these fellows. I mean we’ve got Chidera Ezeh but how many times has he featured? Your guess is as good as mine.

It does appear like we’ve been all attack against the management style of this current administrators but they haven’t covered themselves in glory. Our sporting director isn’t making calls after calls to bring in quality additions – we are left relying on lower division quality players to prosecute this league campaign. Sadness.

In other news, Startimes is allegedly pulling its sponsorship of the League. Sigh

Hopefully we have happier thoughts to share tomorrow.
