Enyimba FC played out a 0-0 draw with Akwa United in a keenly contested pre-season friendly match at the training pitch of the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium.
The Aba-based side, led by Coach Yemi Olanrewaju, dominated possession early on and created numerous scoring opportunities, but Akwa United’s defense held firm. Both teams had their share of chances, with Enyimba’s defense making crucial blocks to deny the visitors.
The starting lineup featured new signings Moses Adikwu, Ismail Saraki, and Ufere Chinedu, alongside Innocent Gabriel Uwana Asuquo and Elijah Akanni. Jeptha Clinton and Joseph Atule led the attack, but neither team could find the back of the net despite creating spectacular scoring chances.
Coach Yemi Olanrewaju expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance in a post-match interview. “We created many scoring opportunities but couldn’t convert them. We’ll work on our finishing and build on this performance as we continue our pre-season preparations.
The match was a valuable test for our new players, who showed great potential. We’re excited to see their growth and contribution to the team.” Enyimba FC will seek to improve their scoring form in their next preseason match against Rivers United in Port Harcourt on Monday, aiming to make a strong statement ahead of the new season.
