Good morning All.
The Groups for the Aiteo Cup has been released with Enyimba among the quartet in Group A. The Group A venue is the Patani Stadium in Gombe State and the other teams that make up the Group include Plateau United, Katsina United and lower league side, J Atete.
The LMC tweeted yesterday, asking fans for which of the Groups they felt was the toughest and while many were quick to suggest Group C, I do think ours is hardly a stroll in the Park. Katsina United is a force up North (ask Kano Pillars) and Plateau United is well Plateau United. Atete on the other hand are giant killers.
The Group D will play in Aba. It’s amazing how quickly our new pitch has come into reckoning for these games. Just tells you how much we must learn to start maintaining our facilities. Have you seen the Uyo pitch right now? No wonder Aba and not Uyo is being suggested for the Super Eagles.
I haven’t fully understood the concept of these Groups. But for us and our Continental engagements, there is surely a lot of traveling all over the place for us. The only consolation is that these games will keep us match-fit something that became a source of a problem when the League had closed.
Meanwhile we have Sunday’s clash in view and if you hadn’t seen yesterday’s corner-kick post, you really should. It’s a warning shot to those of us who feel that we are home and dry already with Sunday’s game. You should go read it for yourself and when you’re done, share it with every player you know at that club. Sunday’s game is no jokes.
In addition to that, you may wanna also take a look at this post by the indefatigable Fisayo Dairo on the match officials for Sunday. The referee is hailed as Super Eagles lucky charm. Hopefully that works in our favor as well.
Finally for today, the chairman of the club got re-elected into the NFF executive committee along with a few others. My prayers are that our football bosses make the best decisions regarding our football.
That’s all I got today. Have a beautiful day everyone.
