Enyimba Legends vs Super Eagles Legends as the Aba stadium is officially opened today

Our brand new stadium officially gets opened today. I know it doesn’t feel like it because in our usual way of secrecy, there is no information from any of the official channels where such information is expected. But this evening at 4pm, at our Aba shrine, Ex-Super Eagle Internationals will face an Ex-Enyimba International side.

For thirty-three months, the Aba fans have waited for their darling team to return home, and today officially, the stadium will be opened to the thousands of fans to witness first hand what it feels to have the best playing turf in the country. The 1998 Ex-Super Eagles will file out against some CAF Champions League players of Enyimba football club.

A lot of us Enyimba fans and admirers today all across the country got bonded with this team after the exploits of the 2003 and 2004 CAF Champions League conquests and a lot of the ex-Enyimba team for today would be drawn from the 2003 and 2004 sets.

To be honest, there has been a disturbing quietness to the planning of this game and there has inevitably, been issues especially in the last week where some of the players have been vocal in their views to the preparations and planning of the game, which according to whispers has been unpleasant.

Hopefully, the issues will be/ has been sorted and the Gentle Giant, Uche Okechukwu will lead the 1998 ex super eagles from the back like he did earlier in his playing days, while Ike shoromu is expected to man the goal.

Muri Ogunbiyi one of the foreign imports in the glory days of Enyimba will make a return to the ground, orchestrating things from the middle, while Obinna Nwaneri, a defence stalwart in his early days is expected to also grace the turf.

Others expected in the Ex Super Eagles team to play are – Taribo West, Victor Agali, Victor Ikpeba, Daniel Amokachi (The Bull), Samson Siasia, Tijani Babangida, Mutiu Adepoju and others

While in the Ex-Enyimba FC team, the likes of Bob Osim, Emeka Nwanna (Ayaya), Ogbonnaya Okemiri, Obinna Nwaneri, Ndidi Anumunu, Uga Opara, Chidozie Johnson should play a part.

This should be some spectacle and depending on the platforms available, we at ThatEnyimbaFan will do our best to feed you what is possible.

Back tomorrow,
