It should be a quick one today. Please bear with me. First of all, and what I know a lot of you are looking for is the answers to our quiz. I’ll like to start by thanking all those who responded. The promise is, as long as there is such response, our giveaways will continue. Amen?
So let’s talk a little about the quiz. The question was the score line on the last game Coach Zakary Baraje sat on the home dugout at the Enyimba Stadium. I actually felt this was a very easy question and I was genuinely surprised when people were making wild guesses. Let me explain why.
Coach Kadiri Ikhana won us our most recent League title and he did right after taking over from Coach Zakary Baraje. Baraje had just joined us at the start of the season, leaving El-Kanemi Warriors who achieved a record high league finish of 4th position. Baraje came along with his top striker – some Cameroonian fella called Raphael Boumsong. Remember him?
But Baraje had the most turbulent of starts to his Enyimba tenure. And by the fifth week or so, he got suspended by the club. Imama took over and masterminded a 3-0 trashing of Lobi Stars. Baraje would return a few weeks later as the club forgave his sins, washing him white as snow. And a few days later, a certain Giwa FC were the next visitors to the Enyimba stadium.
Kadiri Ikhana sat his team smartly to play for a draw and they did. It was a goalless draw to the utter disappointment of the Aba faithful. The fans wanted to descend on him. Miraculously he slipped away. But Ikhana had made the mark required. The club had an easy decision to make, Ikhana was hired and Baraje shown the door.
So the last game of the Baraje era was a 0-0 draw against our Legendary Kadiri Ikhana. The latter would go on to win the Federations Cup with us that season and the League title the next. I miss Kadiri Ikhana. He is one of my most liked humans in Nigerian football. If he had a daughter in my age bracket, maybe we would have been inlaws. Maybe

A lot of you guessed your way to the right answer and because the rules didn’t say anything about multiple entries, I’ll make provision for you to join the three who won at first attempts. Enyimba is in Abidjan as we look to consolidate our grip atop Group C. I hope against hope it’s a good outing for us. There’s a full preview tomorrow morning.
