Continental happiness for NPFL teams

Good morning everyone.

It was a day of continental football. A good day at that. Everyone involved in the continent had one game either to play or to follow. All who played, won and won enough to see themselves through to the next round.

Plateau United saw off Erding Sports FC 4-0 on aggregate and were rewarded with a trip to Sousse, where we performed a miracle to avert an ouster. MFM FC impressed with a rare draw away from home and a slim 1-0 victory in Lagos to win themselves a trip to Algeria to visit MC Algiers and that could be a real headache.

Akwa United who surprised everyone, themselves inclusive, when they lost 1-2 in Uyo but went to Gambia to win convincingly. The promise keepers promised to go on a suicide mission in order to qualify and they managed to commit suicide and still walk away alive.

With Libya’s Al-Ittihad in sight, the guys who committed suicide have been asked to walk a rope over a reptile infested river. All our fellow representatives were just handed North Africa visits and we fear for them all.

This is where the continental battle for relevance, name, title and glory begins. We all are not going to crash out if we believe, put our acts together and work very hard.

We got relatively the easiest but we’re still concerned as to where we will prosecute our home games in the continent. How I wish it’ll be in Aba.

We celebrate you all on your qualification and welcome you to the real headache and this is just the preliminary stages.Dear Plateau United, MFM FC, and Akwa United, try not to leave us lonely in the continent but as big brothers, we can still go alone. At least, let’s get to the group stages.

Back tomorrow.

Meanwhile Happy Birthday to our midfield maestro Ikechukwu Ibenegbu. God bless you Chairman.
