An away game, an away defeat. Our 2 day trip to Katsina turned back empty handed as a goal in each half decided our fate. XYZ and MNO scored the goals for our hosts and here we are after Match Day 3, in 19th position. No we don’t have any outstanding games. And this being only the third game of the season, Sam says we shouldn’t press the panic button yet? Right?
No. I disagree. We better start pressing the panic button right away. You didn’t need to have been at the Mohammed Dikko stadium to notice that this team, our team is anything but what it should be. We are woeful. Poor. Horrible and looking like we are headed nowhere. Since it’s inception, this blog has tried to maintain support for most of what the heads at the club do but right now, I no longer buy into Sam and his English. Because it’s about time we said it as we should.
Katsina United needed two penalties to get a point against Kano Pillars. Against us, they didn’t even need one. Ah fatigue then maybe, bonkers. Kastina United just got back from Akure where they played Sunshine in midweek. You need to see the footage of the goals we conceded yesterday, especially the first one. A goal that coaches and players who are paid money should be ashamed to concede. Against Kastina United, we could not muster more than one shot on target. And we are what? Nigeria’s biggest club? Jokers.
Look at the game against Heartland. The chances we missed that day, it wasn’t exactly like we were dissecting them and getting 1 on 1 opportunities. Just the usual lofting the ball forward and provoking chaos. Heartland themselves are a sorry side who have now drawn back to back games at home. So the fact that we couldn’t beat them at home is a huge shame. If we play Kano Pillars now, even in Calabar, this Enyimba team is in big trouble. Oh hold on, we play them in Kano in two weeks.
And don’t let anybody bring up the five players at CHAN. Two are goalkeepers, goalkeepers we don’t need, a rookie left back and Austin has yet to even debut for us. You can’t miss what you don’t have. Ibrahim Mustapha maybe but wouldn’t he need the ball to be able to make a difference? Our creativity is nonexistent and it make you wonder what exactly our coaches offer.
A word on our recruiting. We have an Abdulrahman Bashir who we suddenly aren’t sure of how to use. We recruited four players from a team that got relegated. Look at Sani Nasiru, only Aigbogun knows why he played him yesterday. No insults intended but he is not Enyimba quality as is the so-called Governor. I don’t share the same faith that Sam has in Aigbogun 2.0 but his appointment just like the first time was a huge mistake. I stand to be corrected if he proves me wrong. Just take a look at teams who have coaches and see the difference that makes.
Kadiri Ikhana was ousted from this team after winning the title. Who does that? A year later, almost everyone who won that title with him was sent out of the club. Look at what we have had since, nothing even close. We are a shadow of ourselves. And mark my words, we are not winning this title at least for the next five years.
We need massive changes at this club. Yes, we won the CAF Champions League 15 years ago. Why haven’t we won it again? Oh its simple; we cant. Our methods are obsolete and they are not working.
Ah well guys, I had to let my guest writer say his mind. Do i agree with him? Oh, its difficult to disagree.
