Good morning Good fellas..
Let’s join the official countdown: 3… 2… 1…
We have been writing letters recently to almost every stakeholder in the NPFL, and our fellow fans will be remembered because they are an integral part of the game too. Though it tarry, wait for it. It’s in the way, it’s surely coming. If you have been following up with the countdown or keeping tabs yourself, you’ll notice that we are just three days to the first match day of the new league season. Countdowns are fun, and it is no crime to share in the fun.
3 – In three days, teams will be slugging it out at different centers for the prestigious NPFL title which should be resting in our clubhouse after the 760 matches. 3 was also our league position last season and as the biggest football club in the country, the only available way is forward. The number three is always associated with the left back position in football and our young prodigy, ThatEnyimbaFan new favorite player, Ikouwem Udoh, our left back is readying to make his Super Eagles debut at the CHAN.
2 – That is the total number of complete seasons the team have played away from home, sojourning in foreign lands. We are optimistic that there won’t be a third consecutive season. 2 is also the number of times Enyimba have won the prestigious CAF Champions League, a feat that keeps us head above shoulders among any club in Nigeria. A happy fan is one with more than enough bragging rights. 2 is also the lowest position Enyimba can finish to return to Champions League and who says we can’t?
1 – That’s where we want to see Enyimba at the end of all the 760 games to be played this season. It is high time we celebrated a league title win and we want our title back. Ghanian international, Fatau Dauda will be hopeful to post performances that can help him keep the number 1 spot in the team as his closest challengers are on national duty in Morocco. He has just about 1 month to convince Aigbogun 2.0 to stick with him.
Our thoughts are with Kwara United who survived a road accident. We heard that only 3 persons needed to be hospitalized. We wish you all quick recoveries.
