Match Preview; El-Kanemi Warrriors vs Enyimba

Good morning Guys,

It’s El-Kanemi Warriors this evening as we look to build on our decent run. And in a broader sense, it is the start of what is a strategic stage of our season. This begins a run of six fixtures that will redefine our season and title challenge.

For the past two seasons, El-Kanemi has remained a tough away ground for us. Be it in Maiduguri or in Katsina, the results have been same- zero points. Even in that title winning season, we were already 2 goals down with less than a quarter of the game played.

It should change this season, shouldn’t it? Enyimba acquired the services of the two major tormentors in chief- supporting striker, Chinedu Ohanachom and young striker Ibrahim Mustapha. Two players who were at the heart of their survival these years they’ve played home games away from home.

For the striker, he disclosed in a recent interview how emotional it would be facing a team he cheered and played for all these years. You can imagine that a little but how about shelving the emotions till he’s gotten us a hattrick in the game? He’s a professional isn’t he?

El Kanemi Warriors are the club I played for last season and the club who brought me to limelight. On Sunday, I will play in front of my parents, my father will be at the stadium, my wife to be will be there too and they are all El Kanemi Warriors fans. But I am a professional player and I am now an Enyimba player. I will do my job by giving the defence of El Kanemi Warriors a tough time and hopefully get a goal against my home club.”

Good and point of correction, we don’t need just a goal. We need you to fetch your first Enyimba hattrick in that one. Too much to ask?

Asking for a win in Maiduguri is quite an ask seeing they have not dropped any points since they returned home. 14 or 15 wins. A 100% home record. That means they’re have expecting yet another win and that means a good time to give them a shocker.

We are making efforts to see if we can have a live updates via Twitter and Facebook. If that works, then great. Please check back at 3:30 to see if something is up.

In other news, our Enyimba rep at the AFCON, Ghana’s Fatau Dauda would return empty handed after Burkina Faso pipped them to the Bronze. That’s a largely underwhelming and underperforming Black Stars setup. They should be disappointed with their performance.

Back tomorrow with good news I hope.
