Enyimba 3-0 Etoile: The reactions we promised you.

Good morning Guys.

Still basking in the euphoria of the victory at the weekend. We promised you some reactions from that game and that’s what you have here today.

But before we get into that, the good guys at @OptaNGR threw us a few facts concerning our rivalry with Etoile du Sahel. Check this out.

3 – This is the first time @EnyimbaFC will score three goals against @E_S_Sahel in the CAF Champions League. Breakthrough.

This is the first time @E_S_Sahel have failed to score against @EnyimbaFC in the CAF Champions League. Blocked

Nice stuff don’t you think? I think you should follow them. They’re on Twitter and they’ve also got a Facebook page. It will do your football some good.

Anyway, back to the matter at hand, we caught up with Captain Fantastic Chinedu Udoji after the game and he had this to say.

How do you feel about this game:
First of all I give God the glory, I thank God that we won. But for me I just see it like we played 0-0 today. Because it is not yet over till it is over. The good thing is that we won, I thank God that we scored three goals today. I’m not celebrating yet till the second leg. We have to go to Tunisia and by the special grace of God we will fight hard like we fought today, try to score a goal and try not to concede to qualify.

How Important is making it to the Group stages?
Our major target is for us to do well in the Continent this season and that’s what we are working on. For the past two seasons we have not done well in the Continent. All our focus is for us to do well in the Continent this year.

On Mfon Udoh:
He’s a fantastic player, he’s a very good lad. He made a mistake last season and this season he has corrected his mistakes and if can keep his head down. I see him going very far. My prayers for him is for him to score more goals. That’s my prayer for him.

Message for the fans:
Our fans have to be patient with us. They should not celebrate yet, they should pray for us. Being the only team in the Continent, No other team is in the Continent remaining Enyimba, we have a lot lot of pressure on us. The CHAN and the Super Eagles did not do well in the Continent and no other club is in the Continent, there is a lot of pressure for us to do well and we believe by the special grace of God we will do well.

Well, there you have it guys. Nail on the head. I can’t help but say that it is nice that we have a captain who has such thoughts, such sense of responsibility. I believe these thoughts will be drummed into the hearts of the rest of the team.

The return leg will be played a week today, that’s Tuesday next week and make no mistakes about it, this tie isn’t over yet. So like the skipper said, ‘Keep praying for us’ that’s basically the least you can do for a team you love.

Well that’s that for the reactions from the game for now because we have a League game against Sunshine Stars in Akure tomorrow. It is hence befitting that we do a preview for that one, don’t you think?

Enjoy ur day guys, we will be back tomorrow.
