Mutual Consent.

Good morning guys,

Thank God it’s Friday.

We jet out (or bus out, or bicycle out whichever u prefer) to Benin Republic this afternoon. It all goes to the wire this Sunday (not Saturday as was advertised everywhere). We have established a healthy lead with which we are taking to this second leg but all of that will count for nothing if we don’t keep a calm head and play our game at their place on Sunday.

To be honest with you, I don’t think Buffles will run us over at their place even if we get 5 Red cards. Kadiri Ikhana led an Enyimba team to a CAF Champions League final in Ismaily where we protected a 2-0 goal lead, this one shouldn’t be too much of a problem. We should concede at the same time, we should be able to score at least one goal.

The game is on Sunday and not Saturday as we heard earlier. Does that matter? It doesn’t. 4 pm get out there and get the job done. I’ve so talked about this game that I’m feeling tired of talking about it.

We are also pretty decent on the injury front, just a few niggles here and there so basically nothing to worry about so we have a fully fit squad for the encounter.

A couple of nights ago we heard from the club that our long serving midfielder Rasheed Olabiyi has left the club by mutual consent. That means both parties said, “we are parting ways but no hard feelings, every grievance and annoyance is over and done with. Shake hands and we are friends. If we see on the road, we can give each other a free ride and we can even invite you over for dinner”.

I wish the guy all the very best and I personally will miss him. But perhaps after seven years at the club he feels the time is right for him to move on. Of course there will be questions about if he fulfilled the potential he promised in his early days but he won enough trophies and accolades at the club. I guess by signing Uluocha from Warriors, Kadiri readied himself for his loss eventually. We salute him as a true blue and wish him the very best in the future.

Also Paul Godwin left the club by mutual consent a couple of days before Olabiyi did. Paul fell down the pecking order and you know it was only a matter of time before he left. He’s another nice lad who probably felt it was right to move on to better things. If you as a goalkeeper are in a club where you are not even third choice, you should really move on. We wish him all the best.

That’s it for today guys.

Enjoy your weekend.
