Well guys, it’s Nembe City this weekend as we begin to make our quest to reclaim our League Title.
Kudos to the boys, beating El Kanemi in midweek. Mfon netting his 18th. I didn’t get to see the game cos of some official responsibilities I had. But then, 3 points bagged…we got Nembe matters to talk about.
It’s a game you will easily write off as 3 points for us based on how comprehensively we shrugged them off early in the season and all their travails this season. Any team with more troubles in the history of the league?
They are a side already relegated from the League and have nothing to play for. They’ve shipped in the highest number of goals this term and what’s more? On paper it’s an easy one for us…. But then
I’ll preach caution. Only a few days ago, they won 4-0 and we should not think we will so easily overrun them. Several times this season, when we have been expected to nick it all, we fell below par. But then We have the ability and drive to do this so let’s settle down and get the job down.
We have some good news on the injury front- Uwadiegwu who was our best player before he was knackered returns to the squad. So does Boumsong who sadly has not scored for us this season.
Mfon now has extra motivation with Dolphins striker Emem Eduok having overtaken him in the top marksman of the season. Nembe is ideal for him to add a few to the 18 goals he has.
We have Nembe, Dolphins both away before Pillars come to Aba, 6 points from those two away games is very very possible. Pillars play El Kanemi and even though it’s an away game, it will be played at Kano Pillars Stadium. So expect all three for Pillars.
The unspoken news today is, if Pillars will and we don’t then we can wave the title goodbye.
Let’s do what we have to do and hope for the best.
