We Spank Sorry Taraba.

Exceptional performance to comprehensively trounce FC Taraba today. We were out of the lockers quite early and after hitting the side netting, Mfon got our first goal when the ball hit someone’s arm in the area. It was a clean PK and the referee duely obliged. Mfon is good with spot kicks and just as he did in Umuahia, He beautifully dispatched,

The goal woke them up and twice Musa Lawrence got behind Chinedu Udorji and twice he fluffed. First Ojobo ran back to steal away the ball and the second, he screwed his effort wide. Chances were opening up at both ends and we should have gotten a second penalty when the ball hit someone’s arm and went out of touch. The referee gave a corner kick instead of a penalty.

We got our second goal through the timeless Emeka Ayaya. Etor had just come on for Boumsong and he ran down the left and crossed. Ayaya beat a taller defender to the ball planting one of his trademark headers- two goalkeepers in the post wouldn’t have caught that. He literarily side-nodded it in. Classic stuff.

We had more chances in the second period and for a side that needs more goals, it is a shame we didn’t capitalize. Ojobo had a tame shot hit straight at the goalkeeper. Uwadiegwu hit one over the top and Ayaya forced their keeper to a reflex save; Sokari hit the rebound straight at the keeper too.

As the game wore on, it felt like it was going to end 2-0 but Nzube had the final say. Just on the field for a few minutes after replacing Sokari, he latched onto Etor’s corner kick and struck it home. His celebrations? Phenomenal. He pumped it on both sides like Drogba and wheeled away to the right.

Another 3 points and who has noticed, we had not lost since that 1-0 loss to Giwa. It’s five matches on the go and we are not relenting. We are only three points from Kano Pillars who narrowly beat Abia Warriors In Kano on Saturday. There’s still Nasarawa ahead of us and our next stop is just an hour away to our brothers on the left- Akwa United.

It’s a victory worth celebrating. That League title is coming back home. Enyimba Enyi.
